Mortal Story
On the continent of Efia, the Halfling tribes faced extinction. Beset by beastmen and hunted by roaming packs of dinosaurs, they dwindled under the weight of conflict, disease, and hunger. Among them lived Raek, a hunter of the Koyarath tribe, who had lost most of his kin to these hardships.
Unlike others, Raek did not rely solely on strength. He turned to invention. His first creation was a structure to secure a pond, keeping out the largest predators. Though imperfect, it gave his people a safe water source and earned him respect.
Encouraged, Raek built a second device—this time to trap predators inside. Instead of slaughtering them, he began to domesticate dinosaurs, selectively breeding the less aggressive, rewarding loyalty, and shaping them into hunting companions and guardians. Soon, his tribe had packs of trained dinosaurs to defend them and hunt alongside them.
But Raek’s mind never rested. To protect the ponds from aerial predators, he devised spiked barriers. When the ponds began to shrink under the weight of a growing population, he conceived something greater: an aqueduct, carved from stone, channeling water from the mountains into the forest. The artificial river transformed the land into a place of abundance.
As prosperity grew, other tribes sought to seize it. But Raek’s alliances, forged through his inventions, and his loyal dinosaur packs repelled every attack. Under his leadership, the Koyarath rose from near extinction to become the most powerful tribe of the forest.
Ascension
Raek’s brilliance and determination made him the wealthiest and most revered of his people. His inventions reshaped not only his tribe’s fate but the balance of power across Efia. When he died, the reverence of his people and the awe of neighboring tribes elevated him to godhood.
Now, Raek is worshipped as the god of Invention and Wealth. He embodies the truth that prosperity is born not only from strength, but from ingenuity, foresight, and the courage to reshape the world.
