Mortal Story
Karlok was an Imp of the dream world, a race still recovering from centuries of servitude under the Eternal Court. While others sought power or revenge, Karlok pursued philosophy. He believed that all things were connected, and that the universe was held together by a delicate balance.
At the time, the dominant magical theory—especially among the pixies—was that magic was infinite, flowing directly from the fairies themselves. Karlok disagreed. To him, magic was not infinite but a stream that surrounded all beings, ebbing and flowing, requiring balance between what was taken and what was given.
His peers mocked him as a heretic, a fool who misunderstood the very essence of magic. Yet Karlok lived his life by his creed. He carefully measured every spell he cast, ensuring that he restored as much as he consumed. He sought harmony in all things: in beauty and ugliness, in joy and sorrow, in creation and decay.
Though he never proved his theories, he became known as an eccentric sage, a quiet reminder that truth might lie beyond accepted dogma.
Ascension
When Karlok died, his philosophy did not die with him. Over time, his teachings spread among imps, pixies, and even mortals who found wisdom in his vision of balance. Slowly, reverence grew. His name became a symbol of the hidden symmetry of the world, and eventually, he was elevated to godhood.
Now, Karlok is worshipped as the god of Balance and Beauty/Ugliness. He embodies the paradox that beauty cannot exist without ugliness, and that harmony is born from tension. His followers believe that he whispers in the dream world, reminding them that every action must be weighed, every gift balanced by sacrifice
