Mortal Story
The Centaurs were not born free. They were created by halfling witchdoctors, who fused human torsos to horse bodies, shaping them into swift couriers and sentinels. For generations, they lived as slaves, bound to the will of their masters.
When the Minotaurs began plotting their revolt, the Centaurs listened. But unlike the Minotaurs, who sought open rebellion, the Centaurs devised a quieter plan. They remembered the ships—the vessels once used by the first humans to cross the ocean. As messengers and scouts, they had hidden many of these boats, leaving only a few for the halflings to find.
When the Minotaurs rose in bloody revolt, the Centaurs seized their chance. They fled to the sea, boarding the hidden fleet. Among them was Gael, a pacifist leader who sought not war, but freedom.
On the open waters, divisions soon arose. The more warlike Centaurs broke away, sailing their own course. These would become the Borvors, warriors who later added horns to their human brows as a mark of their martial pride. Gael, however, remained with his followers, guiding them across the ocean toward the old continent, the ancestral lands of both horse and human.
Ascension
On the old continent, Gael led his people into a new life. Rejecting war, they turned to agriculture and craft, shaping a society rooted in peace, labor, and artistry. They became farmers, builders, and artisans, finding dignity in creation rather than destruction.
Gael himself became a symbol of this transformation: the centaur who had led his people from slavery to freedom, from war to peace. Over time, reverence for him grew, until he was elevated to godhood as the minor god of Agriculture and Craftsmanship.
