Mortal Story
Before the great glaciation, Daerdir was already renowned among his people as a skilled negotiator and merchant. Unlike most dwarves who preferred the safety of their mountain halls, he loved the open road, the exchange of goods, and the meeting of foreign tongues.
When the glaciers began their slow but relentless march across the continent, Daerdir was among the first to recognize the danger. He carried word of the advancing ice to his clan, warning that their ancestral kingdom would soon be swallowed by eternal frost. The council was divided: some wished to stay and resist, others to flee south. Daerdir proposed a third path—to move northward, into the heart of the cold, and learn to adapt from those who already thrived there.
With his vast network of contacts among humans, half‑giants, and other northern peoples, Daerdir secured safe passage for his clan. He negotiated food, shelter, and protection in every settlement they crossed, turning what could have been a desperate exodus into a dignified migration. His words were as vital as weapons, his diplomacy as strong as steel.
In time, his people settled among the glaciers themselves, carving homes into the ice and learning to live in harmony with the endless winter. They became known as the Glacier Dwarves, and Daerdir was remembered as the one who had led them there.
Ascension
Daerdir’s reputation spread far beyond his clan. To merchants, he was the patron of safe roads. To diplomats, the model of fair negotiation. To wanderers, the reminder that even in the harshest lands, one could find allies.
When he died, the devotion of his people and the respect of countless others elevated him to godhood. Now, Daerdir is invoked by travelers seeking safe passage, by envoys hoping for fair terms, and by exiles searching for a new home.
