Geography

Valdión Valley is situated at a high elevation, surrounded by formidable peaks on all sides. The valley itself is relatively flat and broad, with a meandering river running through its heart, originating from the melting glaciers atop the mountains. Steep slopes and cliffs guard the valley's perimeter, making it challenging to access, and providing a natural defense against potential invaders.

The ecosystem of Valdión Valley is rich and diverse, thanks to the varied terrain and favorable environmental conditions. Lush forests dominated by ancient pine and oak trees cloak the valley, providing shelter to a plethora of wildlife. The valley's high elevation brings cool temperatures throughout the year, with winters often experiencing heavy snowfall. The summers, while milder, remain relatively short due to the valley's northern location. The valley's elevation and mountainous geography lead to frequent cloud cover, resulting in a limited number of clear, sunny days.

Fauna & Flora

The valley's flora consists mainly of hardy and cold-resistant plants, adapted to withstand the challenging climate. Coniferous trees, such as pine and spruce, dominate the landscape, forming dense forests that provide habitat for a variety of wildlife. Mosses, ferns, and lichens cling to the rocks and trees, adding a touch of green to the rugged terrain.   The fauna of Valdión Valley includes a diverse range of species suited to the mountainous environment. Some of the notable wildlife includes: wolves, brown bears, mountain goats, golden eagles and ibex

The abundant forests provide timber for construction and firewood, while the river's water supply serves as a source of freshwater for the valley's inhabitants.   Valley dwellers engage in small-scale agriculture, growing hardy crops suited to the climate, such as barley and edible roots. The herding of mountain goats and sheep also plays a vital role in the local economy, providing meat, milk, and wool.   In the rocky hillsides, minerals like iron and copper can be found, although mining is limited due to the challenging terrain and remoteness of the valley.
