Chinchi

A short and portly human in his middle age, Chinchi claimed to have been an adventurer in his younger days.  He made a decent living selling different finds from his adventures, and eventually settled down in Port Caldir as an 'expert' in magical items.  He seemed to love delving into the history, creation, and source of magic.  Apparently, he received a tip, for which he paid handsomely, for an item that could store pure magic.  THIS would be something he'd leave his comfy little life to track down.  If it was something he thought it might be, it could change the course of magic, and explain a few other things as well.  He packed up and immediately made his way into the desert to said destination.   Chinchi dressed in desert garb, but for a man hat was 40 pounds lighter than he was.  He hadn't adventures in years, and sedentary life definitely caught up with him.  He wore a linen travelling robe, a bit too short as it rode up over his belly, and a bit tight in the arms.  He wore a wide straw hat to keep the sun off of him and a cloak to help him stay warm during the nights.  He wore a pack that always managed to have just the right amount of food for dinners and a canteen that no matter how much he drank, was cool and never seemed to empty.  His final item of note was his walking staff, which Chinchi used many times to perform the minor enchants required to start fires, provide light, and scare off the minor nuisances that travelling through the desert entailed.     Before he'd even left the city limits, he'd come across a younger girl who was looking to make her way out of the city.  Destination?  Anywhere but here.  Chinchi had originally denied her, but her insistence, and his realization it'd be a long journey alone, made him change his mind.  And if something happened to her along the way, it'd be sad, but no harm done.  It turned out she was an excellent listener, listening to all his stories; stories of his adventures in the deserts, the Bloodwood Forest, the northern mountains, and even his one encounter with a Drow.  She even had a few of her own that he actually enjoyed.
