Dwarves

Basic Information

Anatomy

Modern Dwarves come from other dwarves sculpting each other out from stone and then being imbued with life. Because of this, there is no sexual dismorphism between dwarves. In addition, due to originally being stone, many dwaves are incredibly good at judging the type of stone or jewels when presented with it.

Biological Traits

Generally, dwarves will live around 500 years before their magical runes that give them life, start to give out. However, many young dwarves can die by not being careful and listening to their instincts when it comes to natural gases causing explosions, and creating unstable caves.

Genetics and Reproduction

When 2 or more dwarves feel highly skilled, they will work together to slowly carve out another of their species, embellishing runes, and cutting out the person they want their child to be. In this way, Dwarves have no Sexual dismorphism, and can have anywhere between 1 and 7 parents that they are related to. This also means that Dwarves cannot have biological children with other species, due to them being smooth like a Ken doll.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Dwarves place emphasis on both physical cleanliness, and skill. Especially arounds hands. Dwarves spend a long time making sure their hands are taken care of, likely being the first to make products such as nail files, nail polish, and other ways to make sure their hands work well. While hands are incredibly important for their work in both sculpture and gathering minerals, Dwarven culture places emphasis on taking care of the hands of yourself and your family as a way to give back to your parents, and as a way of intimacy with others.   Dwarves have a lot of pride in their work, some work well with metals, creating beautiful rings and scultures out of metal, and on the other hand some crafting beautiful weapons for use of adventurers, incribed with runes to make them last longr in battle, and not need sharpening as often. Others work with stone, creating houses and buildings or other types of art build right into the walls of their home. Others still enjoy gathering different minerals and provide the materials needed for the more artistic dwarves to create what they want to.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Dwarves can sense when caves and peices of stone are structurally unsound. In addition, they are good at sensing vibrations, especially in caves. This allows them to be able to make stable caving systems more easily, and avoid natural gas deposits that may cause explosions.   Dwarves have a built in filtration system with their beards. They take great pride in their beards which are full of oils and filter the dank cave air they are constantly breathing. Because of this, on the surface not only do they have no trouble breathing, but even when cities start to become pollutated with smoke clouds, Dwarves will still be relatively chill.   Some dwarves do not have eyes, due to them living inside dark caves all the time. However, the vast majority do since they have started to interact with species outside of the caves they first dwelled in.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Well taken care of hands, large calluses but the backs still soft, and well maintained nails without dirt or grime underneath and a nice rounded edge.

Courtship Ideals

Dwarves will generally chose those they are closest to when they desire to create another dwarf. Genreally 3 or 4 dwarves who spend a lot of time together, will unanimously begin to specialize in certain areas of creation to make sure they offsprig they create is something they all are proud of. In this way, dwarven relationships are generally fairly quiet, but nonetheless impactful.

Relationship Ideals

Dwarves will spend time with those they feel they create well with. They will often sit in the same room or area quietly with each other for long durations without speaking, simply working on whatever they desire to be working on. This bonds dwarves together slowly into unbreakable bonds between each other.

Common Etiquette Rules

A simple nod to say hello, hand touching is an intimacy saved for those closest to them.

Common Taboos

Yelling or generally making lots of sound. Dwarves communicate mainly through body language

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Some Dwarves will get with Elves, but rarely humans. While these relationships are uncommon, unike elf society, Dwarves don't really mind interspecies relationships. Elves will often hum quietly to their dwarf or dwarves they are with, and the others will listen happily as they do their work. Some Dwarves will move farther away from the main settlement so their elf lover can be closer to both the above world, and so their elf lover can sing to their hearts content while the rest of them work.
