Session 4: Framin' Slay

Began session on the second Estës of Palesun, around noon.

The party began by discussing what to do with Marluxia's offer. They considered framing Marluxia instead, but ultimately decided to stop by the Spittin' Karp to check it out.

Inside, they met a very large man named Ralph, who was playing cards in a different table from Slay, who was next to his girl Valentina. Sal, trying to be sneaky, drew the attention of Slay and it seemed that he got away. Rupert and Demicoso decided to play cards with Ralph and befriend the man, who won the card match. And Nigel took the time to talk with the bartender and learn more about the area while looking for magical auras.

In doing so, the party learned the residence of Slay from the bartender, they learned that everyone was under some sort of enchantment magic (Slay being the strongest under the influence which seemed to emanate from Valentina), Ralph believed himself to be a suitor by Valentina, and hated Slay.

After Slay left, Valentina called the party over to talk with them. Rupert, being charmed by her, told her that Marluxia had sent them. The party withdrew immediately after that event, and talked for a while about how to proceed. Eventually, they decided to see if they could bring Valentina in on the idea of framing Marluxia, but it didn't seem to work with her.

From there, the party went back to the Sunk’n Norwegian to discuss plans again. They talked with Öskar, the Dwarf Pirate with a shortsword instead of a left arm and has a shark druid as a wife, who was a trustworthy person known by Nigel. Öskar's advice led them to consider breaking into Slay's house, which they did, and then discovering that Slay had a dagger collection in his house with a dagger that matched the wounds of Lord MacGuff, they stole the dagger, wrote a note with, "This remains of MacGuff. Get rid of it - Slay". And Demicoso turned it in to one of the Wharf Wardens as evidence.

Thereafter, Slay was arrested. He died a few days later as Valentina consumed his soul, turning out to be a succubus. For now, the story on the streets is that she had ruined his soul and he decided to kill a noble in the height of his misguided passion. Marluxia testified to this, and the party was not only off the hook in the case, but now there are whispers that they are heroes for capturing the killer, and eliminating the crime boss, Big McRibbit.

All seems to be well for now, aside from the questions of who actually killed Lord MacGuff, and any others that have sprung up in the adventures they have had.

Currently, the next steps are to return to the Borrowed Pint and receive the completed translations from Fez Turnbuckner, and consider what to do with the Invitation from Lord Deseo that Rupert had received and shared with the party.

Session ended around the 2nd Nienos of Palesun in the Gilded Keg, as Rupert shared this letter with his companions and Nigel recognized the name of Lord Deseo as the lord who took over his father's position many years ago.
