Session 21: No Grave but the Sea

Began session by pointing out that both Keyleth and Vexx Shadowscales could not find the whereabouts of the Slaadpole, so they went for help. Upon returning to the warehouse, they brought the dead party members to safehouse so they could be brought back from the dead.

Back to Life

Wu, Gimble, and Root were all brought back to consciousness in a Nimble Traveler hideout. Pog had reached out to next of kin to see who might be interested in paying for the resurrection (2,500gp), and only Snuffalufagus had nobody to pay for his life. So he remained dead, along with Goblin Ramsey.   Upon reflecting on the Four Blades, Root recognized theCackled End, and Gimble recognized the Scarred Scale as the individual who destroyed his town. This was corroborated by Rumple Humplebumple, who told Gimble that the wounds on some of their friends was very similar to ones found on Gimble's tribe that was massacred.   Pocket Possum told Root Treething that she was going to be heading back into the Gap, as there was news reached about a potentially new undiscovered location there she was sent out to clear. She made it known that Root owes her (she paid 2,000gp for her resurrection).  

New Party Members

Next, the party picked up the Riftbinder from Daman Soul, and Lee Aflawn informed the party that Laws Cordial, the Aarakocra, would be accompanying them to St. Leo, alongside Redbeer, the Dwarf. At this moment, Redbeer and Keyleth recognized one another, as Keyleth's tribe had helped nurse Redbeer back to recovery when he escaped the underdark.   Laws Cordial also told them that he was questing for the Sword of Order as well, believing answers may be found in St. Leo.  

Scattering of the Gen

Later that day, the party ran into Wu's father, Al Odd, who was visibly perplexed at seeing Root. Probing for more information, Al revealed the story of the Scattering of the Gen to Wu and Root. Namely, that Margrave Klous, also known as the Uninvited, was a dignitary from Valinor who betrayed the Genasi and ransacked their whole village. Al and his wife escaped with their life and never told anyone of this event. However, it was revealed that Wu and Root are actually cousins. It made for an awkward explanation to Al that his nephew Groot Treething was in prison for terrible crimes.  

Venturing on the High Seas!

Finally, after days of waiting, the party took up a boat to secure passage towards St. Leo along the Tidal Knave, a sailing ship crazy enough to traverse the Smitten Channel.   Sailing went well until they stopped on their fourth day to explore a recently sunken ship in the ocean. Oddly, no one was inside but treasure was! The party pulled forth a lot of coin, as well as some magical items. The following have yet to be identified:

• Sapphire Gem (magical)
• Orange potion

Vexx Shadowscales, believing himself to be cunning, put some of the red potion he found in Flinn's (the First Mate Tabaxi) mug. However, quicker than anyone could see, Flinn had swapped the mugs and taken a drink with Vexx, who then became attracted to Cora, the Cook. She nicely turned him down ("Honey, you may be sweet, but you're still too spicy for me!")   Later that night, the party was attacked by a Young Sea Dragon, accompanied by several Sahaugin who commanded huge sharks to attack the ship itself. When the dragon asked for gold, Vexx Shadowscales Dropped all of his gold (1,050gp) onto the deck of the ship in tribute to the dragon, but the rest of the party did battle with the beast and the humanoid invaders.   The session ended with Root getting the final kill on the Dragon with her javelin of lightning sticking out of it, and Redbeer's warhammer falling down with the dragon into the ocean depths. Both crashed into the sea in the middle of the night. Additionally, the ship itself sustained some significant damage, nearly receiving half its total hull integrity ripped apart by the sharks.
