Session 19: Nub Nub, Pog, and Slaadpole Hide and Seek

General Summary

During the downtime of 10 days' span, the party decided to shop some more, picking up new magical items that found their way into stock at Rapi's Emporium in the span. Keyleth and Duckling both decided to fight in the Clipboard, and Keyleth killed it (2/0/1 in matches) whereas Duckling was pummled throughout his exhibition, particularly by a Kobold named Nub Nub the Kobold. Wu decided to make some spell scrolls and sell them, and he also interacted with Lee Aflawn.   Lee had told the party to be very wary of the Chaos Orb, as its nature is pure chaos. Whereas nature itself appears to be chaotic, it is ordered and structured. Creation itself is reigned in despite its chaotic appearance. In contrast, this chaos orb has no constraints to its chaos. It is completely without order. Secondly, in showing Lee the letter, Lee cautioned the party to be careful around the Scavengers and Orthomancers until they know which of their members were working for this "Scarred Scale". And third, he strongly urged Wu to not leave the Riftbinder with anyone else once Daman returns it.   Following this, Keyleth was banned from the square for poor performance, and the rest of the party decided to do some investigating into the names "Scarred Scale" and "Unquestioned". They followed the lead of Vexx, who had a contact in a grimy bar, the Slanted Mug, which turned out to be a front for the Nimble Traveler Society. Inside, after bribing the bartender with a collective 55gp, they found themselves in a small enclosed room with the leader of the Travelers, a short gnome with spiked hair and a van dyke haircut named Pog.   In their conversation with Pog, they received some answers to their questions: The Scarred Scale is a largely influential person in the City of Thalmor. Not to be trifled with. Pog was going to carefully inquire in to this meeting coming up, but was unsure of the meeting at that moment. However, in exchange for this information, Pog inquired as to their dealings with Declan, his plans, and the Riftbinder Scepter. They also gave Pog the Letter found with Chaos Orb to read.   After their downtime had been completed, a series of slaadpoles errupted from individuals in the area in the Thalmor streets where the party happened to be. Many of these creatures tried to flee, and 3 successfully left the combat area. Splitting into 3 groups (Duckling, Wu, and then Keyleth and Vexx two-teaming), they were able to trace down 2 of the slaadpoles that got away, fearing that they had within 2-24 hours to catch the monsters before they turned into fully fledged Slaad.   They also received a promise of 50gp each for ending the Slaad problem from Morthos, the captain guard of the area. He ensured that guards had set a perimeter around the city, secured the hospitals, and otherwise set about on containment within the city.   Having some trouble tracking down their Slaadpole, Vexx and Keyleth were eventually rejoined by Duckling and Wu later that evening and found the final noted location of this Slaadpole: The old hideout of the The Cult of Cogs (see Session 4: The Cult of Cogs). It looked inhabited, and the session ended there.
