Sorning (Sore-ning)
On the cliff face hangs evil's minion, dressed all in red.
An ancient execution method used most famously by Arisso during the 1st Purge in never ending year 0, that spanned out for fifty long calendar years.
The next description is extremely graphic and not for the faint of heart. Read on with caution.
Sorning is where a person is tied up hands and feet, stood on the very edge of a cliff, dressed in red robes. Their neck is slashed and if they do not naturally fall forward off the cliff, their body is kicked over the edge. Boats wait below to collect the bodies after an hour of submersion, and are then tied with ropes around the bodies neck, and hoisted up to hang over the edge of the cliff until finally dropped back into the ocean for good.
Queen Millia and her husband were the most prominent recorded case of this execution method, though it dated back much further into the past. The Queen and her husband were sentenced to this terrific end by the undeserving king Arisso, along with every living male member of the kings family while the females where banished to the human world. While Arisso's family were set loose twenty days after their execution to rest within the waves, the Queen and her husband were hanging lifelessly off the edge of the cliff for the full fifty year reign of Arisso, until her son, Killian releases them and buries them under the castle with the rest of their family after Arisso's death.
This particular execution took place at the entrance to the city of Aborlaten, on the Ridge Cliffs that over see the rest of the continent, the xultan river below.
Since the first purge, this method of execution went into decline, only being used on a handful of occasions for the worst of criminals until the present king, King Lucean sentenced his brother to death in this way, although the execution never took place.
