Lord Ilkane (Lord ill-kay-n)

Years ago, there was a prince, the kings brother. He shared no resemblance and in contrast to his level-headed sibling, this prince’s passions and anger showed through to his devilish core. He was spoiled and neglected at the same time. It was this that drove him to murder his father. – Jesse

  Lord Ilkane (Formally Prince Ilkane) is the brother of the reigning King Lucean. Although, Ilkane is merely a half-brother, rumoured to have been created through a frowned upon Human-Daimon relationship. This was the route of his anguish and oppression. He was treated very differently from his brother, being a secret Half-Human . He was treated as an inferior, never acknowledged with any titles or responsibilities. His father would not look him in the eye and would treat him with very little respect.   Prince Ilkane grew to hate his father, and his brother who would one day succeed him. He began to hunger for the crown himself, believing he truly deserved it and thinking he would be the greatest king of all.   One night in the year 450 ATR, when all was sleeping in the Ilk-stone Palace, Ilkane crept into his father’s chambers, took an ilk-stone dagger, gifted to him by the very man he struck in the heart that night. The boy had always shown violent and aggressive tendencies, but on that night, not long after his twentieth birthday, he struck his father in the heart and chest seventeen times, killing him almost immediately.   The noise caused his brother Lucean to come rushing to his father’s aid, only to find the young prince Ilkane stood beside his bloody corpse, weapon in hand, with one long sharp antler and a glistening golden eye that illuminated in the dark and the kings Bloodstone crown sitting atop his head.   Lucean defeated Lord Ilkane with the help of a half-human Priest, having him imprisoned in the Palace dungeons, his rage clouding his previous care for his brother. He sentenced the traitor to death via Sorning, a method only used on the worst of criminals since the whole royal family was killed in this manner in the year 0. While this was Ilkane’s sentence, it was never carried out, Lucean being constantly reminded of their brotherly bond every time he stood face to face with the evil prince, choosing finally to banish him to The Barren Land instead, creating a curse that meant he could never leave.   It was after this event that sparked the second great purge, wiping out all half-humans except for the one that helped him, Elian Sornborn, who was instead banished to the human world which Lucean then Closed off from Alea, creating the law that prevented relationships between humans and daimons.  

Appearance

  Ilkane has pale, almost white skin, and white-blond hair. In his human form he has two bright blue eyes, but in his Daimon form, supressed by a locket with a picture of his mother inside (Which he destroys before going to kill his father), he has one blackened eye with a pure golden iris that pierces the soul as well as a large, blackened antler that protrudes from the left side of his skull. He mostly wears all white, to coincide with his façade of being an “Angel”. His tattoos are dark and protruding ever so slightly as if they were drawn in with sharp knives rather than needles. These tattoos are also far more illustrious than the regular Daimon, entwining his whole body in geometric patterns and various designs.  

Life after banishment

  After his banishment to the Barren Wilds, it was rumoured that he travelled to the island of Frey , where he may or may not have built a huge temple dedicated to himself and his self-proclaimed lordship over the sector.   There were many citizens of Alea that sympathised with Ilkane, whether they be half-humans that escaped King Lucean II’s purge or those who suffered under the current monarchy’s regime like the oppressed Drairy people of the Sylvian slums. He had a huge number of people leave the capitol in search of his newly forming kingdom, with hopes of a new leadership that would serve them better. The stronger of these new disciples were named the “Angels” and became Ilkane’s personal Army (Lord Ilkane and the Angels), although the size of this army is completely unknown.
