Tobia's Gulf (TOE by ah)

the Mursil Sea

Tobia's Gulf, called the Mursil Sea in ancient text, is an oceanic basin in the Tinjir region of the Western Reach of Ethae. The gulf is bordered by the Thoamaine Peninsula in the north and east, and Lhakamed to the south and west. The eastern region of the gulf is extremely deep, reach an estimated twenty thousand feet at its lowest point. The gulf is known for its bright azure blue waters.

Legend claims the gulf gains it name from TTobia, the ancient Fey'are and wife of Soun. These legends give Soun credit for naming the waters for his wife after her death. However, it should be noted that Tobia's Gulf is a modern name, first appearing in text from the early Novyum Age. Through much of the gulf life it was known as the Mursil Sea. Though the names appear in a few texts' prior, the modern name is attributed to the founding of the Tobia League.

In the modern day Tobia's Gulf is largely empty waters. It is out of the way of seafaring trade lanes, especially its eastern region. Orc of the Scaro Wilds dominate its northern waters, making dangerous for merchant ships to travel. That said, the gulf has a long maritime history reach back into the dawn of history. Its waters were heavily associated with the Areian Nations of the ancient world and featured in many of the stories from the Heroic Era of Ethae history.
