Novyum Road

the Great North Road

The Novyum Road, sometimes called the Lakortha Road, is a major trade road that leads north out of the city of Lakorth in central Novyum, and ends in the city of New Open at the far northern tip of the major continent of Ethae. The road is ancient, with sections dating back before Old Capedo rose to power. Every major Novyum power has added to the roads construction. It was the Republic of Lakorth that first connected their capital to the road, completing the link between it and the ports of New Open. The Republic worked to level the road and solidify it with the Lakortha Stone. Later the United Kingdoms of Novyum expanded the road, building regular outpost and walls along it for the safety of travelers.

Today the road is still the major trade route across northern Novyum. Without the United Kingdoms or a Republic to fund the roads maintaince it has declined some. Much of the exquisite cobblestone paths are lost to history, submerged under layers of dirt and gravel. The forts and buildings that lined much of the road now stand abandoned or crumbled away. Despite the decline, travelers still find a stable road used by most for their journeys.
