Merrimar
Merry Meadow
Merrimar is a farming community in the kingdom of Toemanshire. With a population of around 1000 people, it sitting in Merin Valley, in the Lhakamed region of Tinjir, on the major continent of Ethae. Merrimar is the largest town in the Duchy of Nuna, in both population, and area. While the town proper sits on a hill overlooking Merin Valley, the population largely dwell in farms spread across the valley.
The native Lhakamen of Merrimar are a simple hard-working folk that prefer to farm their land and keep to themselves. Though Isolated, they consider themselves a part of the greater kingdom of Toemanshire, paying their taxes and heeding laws set down by the king in Tomaton. That said, the citizens live their lives in their valley preferring not to journey away. They are welcomig to outsiders, and are happy to see new face.
Merrimar is largely self-sufficient. Merin Valley is a fertile region surrounded by arid mountains. Merrimar farms produce enough food to feed the population and still export much of the crop yields out for trade with the rest of Toemanshire. Ten percent of all crops go to the king as an alternative to the traditional coin taxes of other towns.
During the Orc occupation of Toemanshire, Merrimar survived largely intact. While orc occupied the town during the occupation there was little to no bloodshed. Only a handful of orc ever stayed in the valley, acting as overseers. These invaders seemed to dislike the valley as a whole, with many claiming curses, and creatures stalking any orc that traveled alone away from the city center. The locals never attempted any organized revolts and were largely left in peace to enable farm productivity These orc occupiers were primarily from the Besed Orchold, known for their less aggressive approach to dealing with captured enemies and slaves. The Besed seemed to push a claim on the valley over the other orcholds of the occupation, attempting to keep the others away from the valley.
