Chinmayi
the Virgin Queen
Chinmayi is a daughter of the Salemona dynasty and twin sister to Rabasa queen of Hydossia. Unlike the other women of the royal family, who live much of their lives in the family citidal of Amytis, Chinmayi is known to have left home to travel the world. She traveled alone and never speaks of her adventures. This has left little information of where she traveled and who she meets. A frustration to Hydossa historians. She returned to Hydossia to be witness to her sister Rabasa's coronation and crowning. A year later she declared herself queen of Hathor, a remote part of eastern Hydossia. The private world of the Salemona women inside Amytis has left no records of what led up to this, or why. Nor has either sister explained why Queen Rabasa never resisted the division of her lands. As far as any can tell, the two only speak through official correspondence on national matters. The texts are cordial but formal. Both queens have ruled for over six decades in this manner.
The mysteries of her early life and the establishment of her queendom aside, Chinmayi is well known to her people. A stark contrast to her sister in Hydossia. Chinmayi makes frequent public appearances, traveling her realm throughout the spring and summer months. She appears at random with her entourage, Her officials check local accounts and records. Then the party moves on to the next location after a few days. During the autumn and winter months Chinmayi and her court reside in Onteron. In Onteron, she will host artist of all kinds from across the world through the winter season.
Chinmayi is known to be a devote Trijan and has been effective in spreading the faith throughout her lands. Trijan temples, big and small, can be found in nearly every town of Hathor today. While her past, before becoming queen, is a mystery to all, she is well known by her moniker as the 'Virgin Queen'. She has never been known to take a lover or seek a companion and is outspoken about her personal chose of celibacy and chastity as a way to draw herself closer to Alu. She does not want the distractions of the flesh. Stories of her devotion to this has left her admired by many devote Trijan. While she practices this for herself, she understands and overlooks her courtiers not following her path. This has only made her more beloved in the eyes of her people. Any threat to her life will find an army of faithful servants and citizens willing to die protecting her.
She has also become a muse to many of those artists she hosts. Her face in paintings, her body in sculptures, descriptions of her beauty and purity in poetry, have all spread across Ethae and beyond. She could well be the most famous modern rulers on the continent. Most do not know her name or her kingdom, but they would know her face on sight. The continent they have come to love the Virgin Queen they do not know. The perfect woman and queen. An ideal that most women, perhaps even Chinmayi herself, could never live up to.
