Fifth War of the Andemarian League
"Friends and countrymen, now is the time to take up your arms! Aldric Mansell of Ashmore seeks to come north and proclaim himself our king! The time has come to embarrass yet another Ashmorian upstart and send Aldric Mansell back south in shame. Andemar has no king, Andemar needs no king, Andemar shall have no king!" Fifth Rally Against Ashmore, by Mir Hillore
The Conflict
Prelude
For over a century since even before the fall of the Athranarian Empire, the city-states of Andemar have resisted the authority of the kings of Ashmore. Many times has a king marched north full of pride and confidence that he will be the one to put an end to the league, only flee south following a disastrous campaign. This time, the proud king is the recently crowned Aldric of the House of Mansell, a family of influential bankers and merchants that bought the crown, and he has staked everything on being the one to finally force the cities of Andemar to accept royal authority. With his intent declared, the League called upon its allies and supporters to provide aid to repel the oncoming Ashmorian host. The Dwarven Princes of Bildahr and Thelduhr lent a combined 1,500 mercenaries in the form of heavy dwarven infantry. Emperor Ryain of Athranar made his support for the League and opposition to Ashmore clear by sending 500 of his knights to assist the Andemarians.
