Medicine Book

Inspired by Potion Craft, Concept and Written by James Woodwright
The Medicine Book is a book that can be found in the Medica. In the Medica it is the book that can be found at each desk. It is used as a training book in the Medicinal Trade Room as part of the work towards a University Member's Medallion.

Purpose

The Medicine Book is the book that Medics use to treat patients and shows the recipes for each treatment and potion, with the left-hand side of the page being the title of the treatment along with a Wooden Matrix with numbers showing each step. On the right side is the ingredient list and the recipe. If the treatment doesn't require a wooden matrix then the ink will be more faded for the Wooden Matrix and will not show numbers or the route on the Matrix.

Document Structure

Clauses

The Medicine Book is laid out in three sections, Potions, Poultices and Remedies. In each of the section the recipes are in alphabetical order.   Looking through each section the number of recipes that don't require the Wooden Matrix increase, with all of the potion recipes requiring it and the remedies not requiring the Wooden Matrix.   For any medical instruction that is not based in the three it will be part of other training and therefore not part of the Medicine Book itself.

Publication Status

The Book is only accessed in either the University or the Medica. It is book that a Novice would get once they have collected enough funds, through the University Library Book Commissioning System.

History

Additions
Additions have been made over the year recipes have been added. A major edit came, when the first Grand Artisan, Thomas Roberts, through the Artistocracy ordered research into better shipping so that they could go into deeper waters among athe primary objective, the secondary objective to trade with those on an island north west. This resulted in the following spices and products to be in Willinghurst Cray's economy.
  • Cardamon
  • Cinnamon
  • Cloves
  • Coffee
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
This resulted in multiple recipes having alternatives or additions receipes that only used those combinations. Also an encyclopedia listing all the ingredients from A to Z, along with their properties and routes on the Wooden Matrix also had to be edited to include for these discoveries.
