Baron Edric Vantel
Baron Edric Vantel was a wealthy noble of Syvian, best remembered for his voyages to the continent of Alboric in the early years of the settling of Aboric. Known in life for his vanity and love of spectacle, Edric sought fame rather than knowledge. In A109, he led an expedition to Alboric in search of strange beasts and rare trophies. After two years abroad, he returned to Midwin with the pelts and remains of creatures unknown to scholars.
His deeds brought him attention in the courts of Syvian, and he was soon followed by other nobles eager to share in his glory. In A112, he set out again, this time with a larger host. They called themselves The Ironbriar Rangers, in honor of the ancient order, though their aims were far removed from those of old. Edric died of illness before the expedition's end.
Though praised by some for his daring, Edric Vantel is remembered by most as a vain man whose actions led to the rise of the noble hunting guilds, and the careless slaughter of Alboric’s wild creatures in the years that followed.
