Jackalope
Description
Jackalopes resemble rabbits and hairs bearing antlers or horns on their heads. Some instances have also been observed with vestigial wings on the haunches. Jackalopes are considered to be extremely lucky and have a bizarre method of passive defence. Jackalopes generate a passive field of ‘luck’ which allows them to swiftly and easily avoid any present danger.Morphology
Jackalopes resemble non anomalous rabbit and hare species though baring antlers or horns upon their heads. These horns and antlers are often relevant to the Jackalopes size, allowing for unencumbered movement. These growths offer little to no defence from predators and are instead used similar to other mamallians with antlers and horns. Males will spar with one another using their horns similar to non anomalous deer and goat species. Some instances bare wings on their sides that are often large enough to encompass the sides of the Jackalope. These wings however are vestigial and only used by the Jackalope to increase their perceived body size. Most instances of Jackalope are only as large as their non anomalous counterparts, with most weighing in around 5.5 kilograms. Fur colouration can vary between individuals though shades of brown are prevailing. On average Jackalope range from 16 to 28 inches in length.Growth and Creation
Jackalopes are a seemingly natural occurrence, appearing 1 in every 200 million instances of non anomalous rabbit and hare species. Most commonly this occurs in the wild, in native populations of wild rabbits and hares. Though Jackalopes are born from non anomalous species they will often only resemble their parents in passing. Jackalopes will instead appear as the geographic regions prevailing species.Abilities
Jackalopes upon first inspection are simply horned rabbits, not warranting an anomalous classification. They do however possess an ability specific to their anomalous species. Known as Jackrabbits luck, this is a passive field generated around the Jackalope. This field negates almost any hostile action directed toward the Jackalope. For example, a hunter, even with a clean gun with high quality ammunition may miss fire or fail to fire when aimed at a Jackalope. Traps left to catch a Jackalope will either spring early, late, or not at all. Even more complex means of aggression are countered by seemingly innocuous events. This effect is constantly present, saving Jackalopes from predators on a daily basis.Behaviour and Psychology
Jackalopes present no anomalous behaviour or psychology, for all intensive purposes they can be considered no different from non anomalous hair and rabbit species.Habitat & Diet
Jackalopes thrive in the same environments their non anomalous counterparts do. Like their non anomalous counterparts their diet is predominantly vegetarian. Jackalopes thrive across the globe and due to their defensive field they’re able to thrive in otherwise hostile environments.Combat & Containment
Jackalopes pose a difficulty in combat and containment protocols, for the most part no direct aggression will work when dealing with rogue instances. Fortunately due to the Jackalopes likeness to non anomalous rabbit and hare species we are instead able lure instances away. The common strategy for containing Jackalopes is to lure them into a cage and then transport them to the preserve. Unfortunately this has led to Jackalopes becoming a somewhat invasive species in the preserve, being immune from the realms other predators they’ve come to dominate some areas.Subspecies and Variants
A variety of Jackalopes exist across our realm though are most often simply flavours of geographic preference.Myths, Legends and Incidents
Jackalopes most commonly appear as a part of North American myth, encountered by the first settlers on the continent. Other tales of Jackalopes have existed in Europe and Asia for centuries. Most commonly tales tell of the creature's horns, their luck, and their avoidance of traps. Some veteran hunters were of course able to outsmart the Jackalope, mounting the entities on their walls as trophies.Verified Incidents
