Giglelorum

Description

Once considered to be the smallest living beings these insectoids are microscopic though intelligent. Vigorous testing and search has shown that Giglelorum populations can be found across the globe. Existing in colonies of millions and even billions these insectoids are roughly half a millimetre in size. Resembling insectoid primates the Giglelorum have demonstrated tool usage and higher thought.  

Morphology

Giglelorum are microscopic in size, being no larger than half a millimetre in size. These tiny creatures resemble locusts in appearance, having a thick carapace, gnashing pincer-like jaws, and a quadrupedal structure. Giglelorum traverse their micro plain in a hobbling quadrupedal stance. Being so small often leads Giglelorum to come into conflict with other extremely small organisms such as mites.  

Growth and Creation

Giglelorum reproduce similarly to non anomalous insect species, laying clutches of eggs bound in sacks. Giglelorum grow to maturity over the course of 5 months at which part they begin to reproduce. Giglelorum only live for around 2 years before perishing, this has led to many Giglelorum populations growing out of control.  

Abilities

Giglelorum possesses no abilities that are able to threaten moral humans. If encountered in a similar scale however a human would undoubtedly stand no chance. Giglelorum sport a thick carapace that protects them from the many denizens of their micro plain. Along with this Giglelorum are considered to be strong for their size, being able to move weights far beyond their own.  

Giglelorum Intelligence

Giglelorum are known to be intelligent and have been the subject of countless studies. The intelligence of their species allows for them to create tools, homes, and primitive social structures. Many times the Giglelorum have been compared to apes and even early humans in intelligence.  

Behaviour and Psychology

Giglelorum are never found alone, where there is one instance there is bound to be 6000 more. Predominantly Giglelorum live in colonies of roughly 1 - 2 million instances. Smaller colonies of roughly 80000 instances have also been observed as well as gigantic 6 billion strong colonies. The colonies are often led by a primitive hierarchy of individuals. In most cases this is a single individual that has proved to be the strongest or most resourceful of the colony. Often they are backed up by a caste of chosen Giglelorum. Together these Giglelorum seem to resolve disputes, lead the colony to new lands, and act as figureheads for bizarre rituals.  

Giglelorum Leadership

Giglelorum are led by a caste of individuals that have chosen to be strong, resourceful, or important enough for the colony to accept. Though the Giglelorum only show signs of a primitive Intelligence compared to our own they have been observed undertaking acts of simple diplomacy, bargaining, and politics. It is well documented how differing Giglelorum colonies will often commence in territory based wars. This has led many to argue about the true intellect of these microscopic creatures.  

Giglelorum Population Intelligence

The Intelligence of Giglelorum seems to be entirely based on the size of their colony with larger colonies showing far more signs of intelligent activity. This intelligence seems to have a cap however, with the largest colony showing intellect up to that of primitive man. Lower populations are far more ape like in intelligence, in turn using less tools. Larger populations of GIglelorum also construct a higher number of and larger buildings than other colonies.  

Giglelorum Tool use and Construction

Giglelorum of a substantial colony have been regularly observed making use of primitive hand tools. Using these tools Giglelorum instances have been able to construct makeshift abodes. These tools often resemble primitive axes, spears, hammers, hoes, and cranes. Some larger populations have been observed to even domesticate some non anomalous micro species as cattle and work animals. In smaller colonies Giglorum often only use primitive spears though some have been observed to make use of bow-like weapons. Buildings of then Giglelorum are often little more than round huts, constructed from the surrounding materials. In some environments where materials are abundant Giglorum are able to construct larger multi-storey abodes. Often the quality of such buildings is determined by the size of the colony as well as its surrounding environment.    

Habitat & Diet

Giglelorum exist only on the micro plain and are prevalent across the globe and perhaps even all realms. Though they exist in our realm their size makes their way of life and world entirely different to our own. Normally almost invisible non anomalous organisms are instead a prevalent threat in the world of the Giglelorum. Tardigrade are a common food source for Giglelorum. Often Giglelorum colonies will be in everlasting wars, attempting to defend themselves from invasive mites or indeed another colony.   This immense micro world of the Giglelorum has been seldom observed. This has led to many questions about the life, culture, and Intelligence of Giglelorum. We have yet to attain the ability to explore their realm in person. We have however discovered and kept many colonies for study. From these colonies we have learned that Giglelorum often forage their lands for food, hunt their micro wildlife and exhibit understanding of their world. Gigilelorum easily go undetected, their tiny size making them virtually impossible to see. This has allowed Gigilelorum to become pervasive in almost every environment, with differing sub species evolving to tackle new environments.    

Combat & Containment

Gigilelorum pose no threat to mortal humans and thusly are left to live in our realm peacefully. Some colonies however have in the past grown far too large, others have begun to show hostile Intelligence. Terminating a Giglorum colony is simple, only requiring non anomalous fumigation. Simple removal allows Anomalous Security Agencies to easily control colonies. This of course would first require someone to discover the colony. Some colonies are closely monitored and allowed to thrive within certain conditions for research.   The vast majority of breaches caused by Giglelorum aer due to unsuspecting researchers observing microorganisms. This has led to multiple requests by anomalous governing bodies to declassify Giglelorum. Unfortunately without any solid understand of the intellectual cap of Gigilelorum, this has time and time again been denied by the United Nations Anomalous Security Council.  

Subspecies and Variants

Gigilelorum are pervasive across the world and have evolved to thrive in a variety of environments.  

Northern Giglelorum

- Gigilelorum found in the northern hemisphere, light brown in colour and spread across Eurasia and North America.  

Southern Gigilelorum

- Found throughout the southern hemisphere, tan in colour and hardier than their cousins.  

Laboratory Giglelorum

- Special Giglelorum produced by Anomalous Research Agencies for testing. Bleached a dirty white these Giglelorum are slightly larger than their cousins though far weaker.  

Urban Giglelorum

- Grey and sometimes blue Giglelorum found throughout urban areas across the globe. Both indoors and out these Gigilelorum thrive off of the human waste of urban areas.  

Wild Giglelorum

- Wild Gigilelorum are often found in gardens, woodlands, and grasslands. They sport various shades of green across their body and are more slender than their cousins.    

Myths, Legends and Incidents

Gigilelorum have appeared in form throughout various folktales. Stories of miniature men and their kingdoms are prevalent across Europe. Notably however Gigilelorum were discovered by an unnamed Scottish researcher in times gone by. This led the Giglelorum to be a fixture of Scottish Folklore, after the story was passed from ear to ear.
