Dunn Cow

Description

Cows of colossal size that are capable of producing magic golden milk. This magic milk is able to heal drinkers of ailments and minor wounds. Often Dunn Cows are prized for this ability though have been similarly prized for their meat. Though it offers no anomalous properties the large quantity could provide for hundreds.  

Morphology

Dunn Cows appear as extremely large Cows, most often the presiding bovine species in the area. Dunn Cows are comparable to a double decker bus in size, standing at around five metres tall. Though Dunn Cows commonly resemble non anomalous cow species some have exhibited brightly coloured coats. Dunn Cows with blue, green, and even rainbow coloured coats have been encountered.  

Growth and Creation

Dunn Cows are the commonplace bovine creature in the realm of Jotunheim, where they serve much the same purpose as non anomalous bovines do in our realm. Most often Dunn Cows accidentally wander into our realm through sporadic portals. Some however have been found accompanying giants on excursions to our realm.  

Dunn Milk

Dunn Milk is a golden milk produced by Dunn cows, this milk is capable of healing minor wounds and curing ailments. This milk is prized for both its medicinal properties as well as its taste. In times gone by people have even used Dunn Milk to produce Dunn Cheese, which holds much of the same properties.  

Abilities

Dunn Cows possess s no anomalous abilities other than their gigantic size and ability to produce magic milk. The size of the Dunn Cow is common for entities that hail from Jotunheim. Much like other Jotun entities the Dunn Cow is thick boned and incredibly strong. It is difficult to stop a charging Dunn Cow as they can easily shunt aside most vehicles with ease.  

Magic Milk Production

It is not well understood how exactly the Dunn Cow produces its magic milk. Much like a non anomalous bovine the Dunn Cow produces this milk naturally. This milk can so far only be produced by Dunn Cows with all attempts to replicate the production ending in failure. This magic milk is prized and coveted for its medicinal properties, some ASOs have even gone as far as keep Dunn Cows to produce this milk.    

Behaviour and Psychology

Dunn Cows are similar in intelligence and behaviour as non anomalous bovine species. It has been noted that Dunn Cows are far more loyal than regular cattle and will defend their herds leader. Dunn Cows when in their natural lands often travel as part of a large herd, following one another in turn. When encountered in our realm however they are often found alone, and thusly seeking to return to their herd. This has in past led to altercations between ASOs and lost Dunn Cows.  

Domestication Attempts

The ability to produce magic milk has led to multiple organisations to attempt to keep dunn cows much like dairy cows. These attempts have often led to failure as a Dunn Cow often proves aggressive when kept in small and confined environments. In their natural realm Dunn Cows will often roam hundreds of kilometres. When confined to small or dense areas Dunn Cows more often than not become aggressive and agitated.  

Habitat & Diet

Dunn Cows thrive in large open spaces, preferably with low lying trees and long grass. Dunn Cows predominantly consume leaves, their hunger and taste has been compared to that of an elephant. This can lead to large areas of woodland being designated by lost Dunn Cow herds. Dunn Cows will often shelter in the woodlands they have devastated, the bare trees acting as a cover of spikes. Dunn Cows are required to eat nearly three quarters of their body weight a day. This ravenous hunger leads to Dunn Cows stripping kilometres of mortal woodland to bare trunks in a matter of hours.    

Combat & Containment

Dunn Cows are easily and simply herded or led to an appropriate portal to Jotunheim or the preserve. Due to the questionable ethics of keeping a Dunn Cow for dairy its is imperative to send Dunn Cows away from this realm when discovered. Anomalous Organisations are forbidden from keeping Dunn Cows for dairy. This has led to a large herd of Dunn Cows forming in the preserve that are often preyed upon by the realms other denizens. It is recommended that agents attempt to lure Dunn Cows toward portals with large amounts of leaves, grass, hay, or cattle feed. If needed response teams are able to easily subdue or terminate the Dunn Cow instance using conventional means.

- A shaggy haired orange Dunn Cow found in the highlands of Scotland and Northern Europe.  

Dunn Bull

- A Great Horned Bull the size of a double decker bus that has a pension for charging toward its aggressors.  

Rainbow Dun Cow

- A Dunn Cow with a coat made up of various colours that often ripple and change.    

Myths, Legends and Incidents

Dunn Cows are considered to be rare in folklore and myth with only a few instances being readily apparent. They are most commonly found in Europe and North Africa existing as folktales of giant cows. In popular culture however a Dunn Cow appears as Paul Bunyans companion Babe.  

European Tradition

Dunn Cows often appear as a last moment saving grace for many dying villages in European folklore. Many tales exist where a lone hunter or underprivileged peasant discovers a Dunn Cow. Other tales tell of the Dunn Cows magic milk, or its delicious meat.  

American Tradition

Babe the Dunn Cow of American folklore is iconic in popular cutler of Midwest America and southern Canada. In most tales of Dunn Cows found throughout North America the colossal creatures act as companion animals to lone giants
