1 Duelists You fought an honorific duel against another player character. You both swore an oath that the matter is settled now. What did you duel over? Who won? Is it really water under the bridge, or could the issue flare up again?
2 Past friends You and another player character were friends previously, a long time ago. Have you always maintained that friendship, or were you recently reunited? How does your previous friendship affect adventuring together now?
3 Fast friends You and another player character just met, but quickly became friends. What was it that drew the two of you together? How does that affect adventuring now?
4 Swapped You and another player character were switched at birth, and raised in each other's families. How much of a commotion did the discovery cause? Why did you decide to start adventuring together after you learned what happened?
5 Close kin You and another player character are both immediate family, like siblings or parent and child. You could be related by adoption or by blood. Are the two of you close, or did you become distant before you started adventuring together? What does it mean to you both to adventure with close family?
6 Mentored together You and another player character had the same mentor, like an instructor or personal hero. What did you each learn from your mentor? Is that person still around, and what is each of your relationships like with that mentor? How does having the same mentor affect adventuring together?
7 Partners You and another player character were hired to do the same job together. What is the job? Why did you both take it? How does adventuring with the group get you closer to completing your job?
8 Sleuths You and another player character are trying to solve the same mystery. What is the nature of the puzzle you're trying to unravel? Have the two of you always worked closely to solve this mystery, or did you both only recently discover you're trying to both answer the same riddle? How will adventuring together help you find clues to solve the mystery?
9 The call You and another player character lived the same comfortable but boring life together. What were you doing before that kept you bored, but put food on the table and a roof over your head? Why did you decide together to leave that easy life for a difficult but exciting life of adventure?
10 Kin You and another player character are both distant relatives, like second or third cousins, or in-laws. Are the two of you friends now? What is something you both agree about regarding your extended family? What is one thing you disagree about with them?
11 Don't tell You share a dark or taboo secret with only one other player character in the party. What is that secret? How does sharing that secret affect adventuring together?
12 Our secret You share a wonderful or beautiful secret with only one other player character in the party. What is that secret? How does sharing it affect your relationship? Why keep something wonderful or beautiful secret?
13 We know the truth You discovered an unknown truth about the world with another player character. What was that truth? Each of you make up one fact about a single truth about the campaign world. No one knows these things but you two (for now!).
14 Witnesses to a miracle You witnessed something wonderful and incredible with another player character. What did you see together? How does that memory affect adventuring together going forward?
15 Duped For a long time, you believed the same lie as another player character. Who lied to you? What was the nature of the lie? Why did you both fall for it? What about finding the truth brought the two of you together on this adventure?
16 Old boy/girl You grew up or were educated or were trained in the same place or institution as another player character. What was that place like for both of you? How does sharing a hometown affect adventuring together?
17 Mistaken identity Another player character thinks you are an old friend from a long time ago, and you have been too polite or too mischievous to correct them. How long is this going to go on for? Why not tell the truth?
18 Look-a-likes You and another player character keep getting mistaken for each other. Why do people keep mixing you up? How does it make both of you feel? How have you used that before in the past?
19 In for a penny Both you and another player character are in debt to the same entity. Who are you in debt to? What do you owe them? Why did you both go into debt?
20 In for a pound You lost a bet or owe another player character. What was the bet or obligation? What do you owe? What do you think will happen when the debt is settled?
21 The accused You and another player character are on the run, accused together of a crime. Of which crime were you accused? Did you actually do it, or were you falsely accused? What is your plan to clear your names?
22 Just dabbling You and another character share an expertise in an obscure hobby or avocation. With what do you both tinker, play, collect, or study? Is your hobby completely esoteric, or do you find ways it comes in handy while adventuring?
23 Witnesses to something awful Your player character witnessed something terrible or disastrous with another player character. What did you see together? How does that memory affect adventuring together going forward?
24 Escaped prisoners You and another player character escaped incarceration together. Did you deserve to be imprisoned, or were you framed? Why were you locked up? How did you escape?
25 Escaped servants You and another player character escaped servitude together. Who was your master? What were the conditions of your servitude? How did you escape?
26 Competing for affection You and another player character are both in love with the same person. Who is this person you both are trying to win the affections of? Why is adventuring together the best way to do that?
27 Sole survivors You and another player character were the only two people to survive a calamity. What happened? Why did you live, when others perished? Why do you adventure together now?
28 Curses! You and another player character are cursed together, or so you think. Who or what caused you to be cursed? Why? How are you working together to fix the curse?
29 Dark bound You and another player character are linked by occult circumstances or rituals. Did you choose this fate, or are you victims of it? How do you feel about this bound? Is there anyway to undo it, or do you plan to lean into it?
30 Quest Complete! You completed an adventure already with one other player character, and it went well. What was your mission? How did you succeed? How did you celebrate our success together? Why do you continue to adventure together now?
31 Failed quest You completed an adventure already with one other player character, and it went disastrously. What was your mission? How did you fail? How did you deal with failure together? Why do you continue to adventure together now?
32 Shared quest You are currently on a mission with another player character. What is your shared task? Who set it before you? How does adventuring with this group get you closer to completing it?
33 Card carrying members You belong to the same guild, club, or secret organization as another player character. What is the organization? What benefits does membership give you? How does your shared membership affect adventuring together?

60 Disinherited You and another character hail from a noble or a wealthy family or families. You were both cut out of a great inheritance, given nothing. Why were you excluded? Was it deserved? Do you think your family (or families) are scheming against you? How are the two of you working together now?
61 Cell mates You and another player character met each other while imprisoned. You are both free now, sentences completed. Were you guilty, or falsely accused? Of what crimes? How did your time on the inside change you? What did the two of you talk about or the hours, days, weeks, months, years of incarceration?
62 Fall from grace You and another player character used to have all you wanted. But somehow, you've both suffered complete losses or backslides, and you need to restart anew. What was life like before? What happened to both of you? Did you think you deserved this privation? Why is adventuring together now the best way to climb back up?

67 Heirs to ruin You and another player character both hail from a nearly extinct noble or wealthy family, your house is now in ruins. Are the two of you trying to restore your name? Or is it a good riddance? What caused the downfall of your family?
68 Lost documents You stand to inherit a fortune, but the deed and the will went missing. How did it go missing to begin with? Another player character has agreed to help you: why? What will you do with the money when you claim it?
69 Villainous Parent You and another player character are trying to confront a shared parental figure and bring that person to justice. It could be literally a father or mother figure, but it could also be a shared mentor or childhood hero. Will you try to redeem them? Or do they need to pay? What have they done?
70 Save the prince/princess You and another player character are both trying to save the prince/princess (which is it?). Why do you need to save them? Are the two of you competing for favor or attention, or are you working together? Is it a romantic thing, or strictly business?
71 Vengeance Someone or something attacked the hometown of you and another character, destroying it. You and another player character survived, and now you seek revenge. Who or what destroyed your hometown, and how? Will you rally others to your cause to get revenge? How does adventuring together bring justice to your people?
72 Plague You and another player character hail from a land ravaged by plague. Were you trying to escape? Were you or folks you both knew afflicted? Are you seeking a cure? Will you ever return?
73 Mysterious birthmark You have always had a strange birthmark. It resembles something... what does it resemble? Another player character has an exactly similar birthmark, in the same place, only mirrored. What do you think the true nature of the shared mark is? Is it a good sign, or a bad omen?

Or is being on the cutting edge something instinctive or natural or even accidental for you? Is this a burden, or a boon? Lastly -- does being the two most chic members of the party create a competition, or just great company?
81 Revolution You and another character are plotting to overthrow a leader or government. Why do you want to see the current power deposed? How are the two of you trying to win others to your cause?
82 Saboteurs You and another character are both implicated in an attack designed to overthrow a leader or government. Are you really guilty, or was it a misunderstanding? What was the plot, and how did it fail?
83 Explorers You and another character are out to discover something new. What are you searching for? Why are you exploring?
84 In Hiding You and another character are in hiding. What or who are you hiding from? Why is adventuring worth coming out of hiding to you both?
85 Funeral rites You and another character are carrying the remains of your shared ancestor. You must lay the ancestor to rest. Who is your ancestor? What Funeral Rites must you perform? How will adventuring help you complete them?
86 Secret Talent Both you and another character share a secret talent. While more of a parlor trick or game, it's something the two of you can do that no one else can. What is your shared secret talent? Do you or have you ever practiced together? Did you know each other before you started adventuring, or realize you shared this talent after?
87 Recover the Lost You and another character lost something very important, either by accident, imprudence, or ignorance. You both must get it back. What did you lose? Why is it important? What is the consequence if you fail to recover it?
88 An enemy loved You and another character share a common enemy, who opposes both of you equally. However, you have opposed attitudes towards your enemy, one of you hates the enemy and one of you loves the enemy. Who is your shared enemy? Which of you loves the enemy, and why? Which of you hates the enemy, and why?
89 Ambition You and another character are seeking the same object of great wealth or power, but only one of you can claim it. What do you seek? Why do you need it more than the other character?
90 Divine Wrath You and another character did something that angered a god, divine being, or supernatural entity. What did you do? What wrath do you suffer? How do you think you can fix it?
91 Seeker You have been searching high and low for another player character. Now you've found them. Why were you looking for them? What happens now that you are adventuring together?
92 Avenger You and another player character are pursuing a wrong-doer. What was this enemy's crime, and why do you seek revenge? How does the other player character help you pursue justice? When you catch the wrong-doer, what is your plan?
93 Deliverance Your player character, intentionally or not, caused a conflict and was forced to flee, rescued by another player character. What was the conflict? Did you mean to cause it? Why was it bad enough that you needed to flee? How did the other player character rescue you? Was the conflict resolved, or are you still being pursued?
94 Alliance of Rivals You and another player character are working together as a team to defeat your shared rival. Who is your shared rival? How do you hope to defeat your rival? Do you expect that you will continue to work together after the rival is defeated?

99 Notorious You and another player character knew each other by your reputations before you started adventuring. What reputation did the other person have? What did the other person think your reputation was? Do the two of you live up to your reputations?
100 Marked A nonplayer player character wants both you and one other player character dead. Both of you now have a price on your heads. Who wants both of you dead? Why? What are you doing to escape, or settle the score? Do you dare tell the other party members that you might be worth more to them dead than alive?
