He discovered the plans of the enlightened eye to control Kaneloa and worked against them in secret at first by sending missives to the Cobalt Soul and in the end by trying to stop wanton murder and mayhem. he was discovered and his eyes were burned out for it. He was abandoned to the enemies of the enlightened eye.
