Morthos was captivated by the music and the tales it told. Learning: Merrick taught Morthos the basics of playing the bagflute. The instrument became an escape for Morthos, a way to express his emotions and dreams.   Morthos' Younger Sister: Lyra   When Morthos was still a young boy, his family welcomed a new addition: his younger sister, Lyra. The birth of Lyra was a significant event for the family, prompting them to leave their small fishing village, Cresthaven, in search of better opportunities and a safer environment for their growing family.   Tragic Incident and Move to Neverwinter:   Robbery Incident: Shortly before the family’s planned departure to Neverwinter, while Morthos was visiting Eldrin, their home was targeted by a group of desperate thieves. Tharivol was severely injured trying to protect the family, and Seraphine was hurt while shielding Lyra. Impact on the Family: The robbery left the family devastated. Tharivol's injuries were severe, and their savings for the move were stolen, delaying their plans and causing great distress.   Eldrin's Healing Aid and Betrayal:   Immediate Help: Morthos, upon returning and finding his family injured, rushed to Eldrin for help. The druid used his extensive knowledge of herbal remedies and druidic healing rituals to aid in Tharivol’s recovery. Herbal Remedies: Eldrin prepared poultices and salves with herbs like willow bark, comfrey, calendula, and garlic to treat the wounds, reduce inflammation, and prevent infection. Druidic Rituals: Eldrin performed rituals to invoke the natural spirits for protection and healing, channeling his energy to accelerate Tharivol’s recovery. Rehabilitation Guidance: Eldrin provided the family with instructions for Tharivol’s ongoing care, including dietary recommendations and gentle physical therapy exercises. Kidnapping: Unbeknownst to Morthos, Eldrin had a darker side. Believing that the aiding for Tharivol had upset the natural balance, Eldrin decided to restore it through a sacrificial ritual. He kidnapped Morthos' younger sister, Lyra, under the guise of taking her for further healing.   The Loss of Lyra:   Search for Lyra: When Morthos discovered Lyra was missing, he frantically searched for her, following clues that led him to a secluded sanctuary near the shore. Grim Discovery: Upon reaching the sanctuary, Morthos found Lyra already sacrificed, her lifeless body a testament to Eldrin's twisted belief in restoring balance through sacrifice. Eldrin's Disappearance: Eldrin had vanished, leaving behind only cryptic signs of his presence and the heartbreaking scene.   Life in Neverwinter:   Delayed Departure: Once Tharivol was well enough to travel, the family moved to Neverwinter, carrying the heavy burden of Lyra’s loss. The city offered better opportunities, but they faced new challenges adjusting to urban life. Gang Involvement: In Neverwinter, Morthos initially got involved with a local gang, the Shadow Serpents, as a way to make quick money and fit in. Relationship Troubles: Morthos fell in love with Elara, a girl in Neverwinter, but her father disapproved of him due to his gang affiliation and tiefling heritage.   Involvement with the Shadow Serpents:   Joining the Gang: In Neverwinter, Morthos became involved with the Shadow Serpents, a notorious gang engaged in smuggling, extortion, information brokering, theft, and black market operations. Role in the Gang: Morthos used his skills as a bard and his cunning to aid the gang in various illicit activities. He worked as a smuggler, lookout, and occasionally performed in taverns to gather information and distract during heists.   Meeting Elara:   Love Interest: During his time in the gang, Morthos met Elara, a young woman from Neverwinter. They fell in love, but their relationship faced significant challenges. Disapproval: Elara's father a greedy merchant disapproved of Morthos due to his tiefling heritage and involvement with the Shadow Serpents. This created tension and obstacles in their relationship.   Turning Point and Decision to Leave:   Family and Redemption: The escalating danger of gang life and the impact on his family pushed Morthos to reconsider his path. He was determined to protect his family and seek redemption for his past actions. Leaving on Good Terms: Morthos left the Shadow Serpents amicably. His contributions were respected, and he maintained a network of allies within the gang. His departure was seen as a personal choice rather than a betrayal.   Journey to Stormwreck Isle:   Rumors of a Similar Druid: Morthos heard rumors of a druid resembling Eldrin on Stormwreck Isle. Intrigued and seeking closure, he decided to investigate. Temple of Peace and Forgiveness: The temple on Dragons Rest, dedicated to peace and forgiveness, offered Morthos hope for redemption and inner peace. Motivation for Revenge: Driven by grief and a desire for justice, Morthos sets out to confront or seek vengeance upon the druid responsible for his sister's death. Becoming a Renowned Bard: Additionally, Morthos aimed to become a namesworthy bard, hoping that achieving fame and recognition would earn the approval of Elara’s father and secure a future with her.     Summary:   Morthos' life is a tale of hardship, betrayal, and a quest for redemption.
