The six noble houses of Athrion go to war against one another for over 100 years. Thousands are killed, and the human population of Akronis plummets. Other races refuse to intervene, however, leaving the humans to fight their own "petty squabbles." Skirmishes were fought, battles were won, and alliances were made and broken. After those terrible hundred years, the Imperial Alliance of House Caliban's definitive victory against House Tavner brought the war to a close.
During the Blood War, Baron Daltis VI of House Bettley consorted with the Archdruid of the Heartbound Circle in a plea for power before a skirmish against House Grafton. The druids attempted peace, but the cruel baron just wished to hold the power. As a result, the Bettlian warriors of that battle were given the power they sought, the ability to transform into powerful animals, but without being able to control it. House Bettley still won that battle, as they easily overpowered the forces of House Grafton, but they were forced to live with their curse. Their descendants became the Weretouched of the modern day, though the curse does still live on in a select few people that willingly pass it down.
In the land that would soon become the Makra Badlands, an order of clerics following Luven, the God of Law, were cursed by Yagi, the God of Chaos to take on a bovine form and inherit a curse of senseless rage called the Raserakt. Their leader, now christened Karsus Flamefist, elevated to demigod status and led many raids against every faction in the Blood War, seeking violence and bloodshed from their curse.
Luven, the God of Law, imprisoned the Minotaurs in Mount Makra, the tallest mountain in the Makra Badlands. Yagi, the God of Chaos, initiated a battle with him, but she too was defeated, and relinquished beneath the Badlands.
