Goliath

Hardy folk hailing from the frigid mountain peaks.

"We are the mountain. We are its strength, and we are its durable shell. You cannot hurt us."
- Puthag Lonestalker

Goliaths of Akronis

Descendant of the Frost Giants of the Old World, Goliaths are massive humanoids from the icy north. They live in isolated communities in the heights of the tallest mountain ranges, relying on their heavy durability and immense strength. Their skin is like that of rock, and most are covered in tattoos related to ceremonial practice and detailing their epic triumphs and feats of strength. They must fight their hardest to earn their place in their tribe, for if a goliath cannot survive the elements, they are not worth spending resources to maintain.   They are natural-born athletes, their ancestral heritage granting them chiseled bodies that can survive the elements, perform incredible feats of strength, and shrug off pretty much any pain. But not all goliaths aspire for a life in the tribe. Some venture away from the mountain peaks, instead moving into polite society and using their strength for Imperial activities. Others that leave the tribe are exiled for not being able to survive in the tribe, due to old age or injury. Though, due to this, most of their leaders are inexperienced and reckless, unable to access or even allow the wisdom of their elders.   Due to events in history, Goliaths do not typically get along with Dragonborn or other draconic beings.

Giants of the Old World

Long ago, in the time before man walked the earth, there were Giants, about six types: Hill, Stone, Fire, Frost, Cloud and Storm. Towering beings, anywhere from a measly 16 feet to a not-so-measly 26 or even 30 feet tall. They often clashed with the Dragons of that time, both before and after the Separation. After that time, Giants built massive settlements in their various respective habitats. But sometime before the Age of Chaos, the Giants went extinct. Some scholars say it was due to effects related to the appearance of the Ignaeira Comet, while others say it may have been to due more conflict between them and the Dragons they shared habitats with. Either way, the massive ruins of their settlements remain for brave explorers to visit, and for scholars to study.
