Beast-Blooded

Beast-blooded is the general name given to all races that have animal-like features. Strictly speaking, this name is often used as a way to refer to the general category of those races; however, it is often used as a slur against the members of one of those races.   The beast-blooded are reviled because there is an universal belief that they carry monster blood with them. This belief is exacerbated by religious zealots, mostly of the Father, the Mother, or Akmens, that push forward the idea that they are manifestations of all that is evil within the world.   As a result, beast-blooded, even in Siarvald, often stick to themselves and choose to live outside of society, if only so that they suffer as little oppression as possible.   It should be noted that Qarah's Dream consists the only (relatively) safe haven for beast-blooded; therefore, any type of them is likely to take residence in the city.   The term "beast-blooded" serves as a category name, but has taken an unfortunate, hidden meaning, almost like a slur (along with 'monster-blooded', which is considered worse). Therefore, the beast-blooded often refer to themselves as "our kin" or by the name of their race, rejecting the notion of being categorised under one single word.
