Aj'kar (AJ-car)

Aj'kar is the given name of the world as a whole. It has two main continents: Siarvald and Yasamaq, as well as an island: the Isle of Reunification.

Cosmology

Aj'kar has one sun, one moon, and many stars. The sun and the moon do have scholarly names (Grian and Gelak, respectively) but those names are often not known to the common people, who simply refer to them as "Sun" and "Moon". In Siarvald, sometimes, the names of the Lightbringer and the Guide are used to refer to the astral bodies as well as the Gods.   It has long been pondered where the sun and the moon go when they set, considering the limits of Aj'kar (see "Planar Limits" below). Many theories have surfaced, and many observations have been made by scholars over the years, but the scientific community at large does not have a single answer to this conundrum.   There are no words in Ancient Yasamaqi for "moon", "sun", or "stars", as these phenomenon were not observed for years and years. Planar Limits

The plane of Aj'kar is not a spherical plane. However, its limits have long been debated, due to the strange phenomena that happen when one crosses too far west or too far east. The effects of doing so, baffingly, seem random. Some sailors have undertaken such a voyage and lived to tell the tale, but many have never come back from the journey. Of those that lived, some report simply travelling through fog until they came out on the other side of the world; some report having their entire crew knocked out, only to wake up with their ship drifting in the middle of the Yawning Ocean. Others came back, but do not remember what happened to them. The stories are as plentiful as their consequences seem random.   Scholars have long been baffled by these phenomena, and none have been able to come to a final conclusion.
