Aasimar

Instead of Celestials, Aasimar hear the voices of the gods specific to their continents, and the beings that visit them are often avatars or vague representations of these gods. Some even hear the voices of a god from the OTHER continent, which is considered an ill portent. Fallen Aasimar are considered heretics and universally reviled. The visions received by an Aasimar are usually:

cryptic warnings,
tasks that they would like the Aasimar to accomplish,
strange, dream-like visions that often lead to personal interpretations from the Aasimar.

Not all gods get testy or angry if you disobey; for example, the Father and the Mother may be strict and very much dislike being disobeyed, but the Guide would be more of a distant figure to an Aasimar.
