Mixed Lineages

Perhaps because they were mostly built on the same foundation - the Eladrinate form - all of the Mortal Lineages can interbreed, although successful procreation is less likely the greater the physiological distance. In particular, complications arise when the potential parents differ greatly in size. There are also specific pairings that are more or less likely to be viable. For example, the cold-blooded Scalefolk can procreate with dragon born partners, but not with most other lineages.   Usually, the traits of one parent or another will prove dominant, and in fact there are very few completely pure examples of any given 'lineage' anymore. Occasionally, however, an individual will present a blend of parental traits, often where their upbringing belonged principally to neither. Although many refer to this as a 'balance of blood,' the absence of a dominant cultural upbringing is also a factor.   Demographically, the most common mixed lineages are those which emerged from the Legion-Regime Wars, which were often fought in territory which originally belonged to human tribes: half-elves, half-orcs, and orocin; the children of elf-human pairings, orc-human pairings, and elf-orc parings in turn. After that, there are numerous petars with Dragonborn blood, who may be considered dragonborn, but saddled with the name 'impure,' thanks to Ladoman prejudice   The Seafolk are a continuity of mixed lineages so ancient that the 'pure' lines have been lost to history, with the oceanic lineages defined by physical traits, proficiency and propensity, rather than heritage.   The Planar Lineages are an oddity. Aasimar only occur when a divinity wills it, and their children inherit only their biological nature. Tieflings, on the other hand, will often pass on their infernal nature, as such proliferation is a standard clause in the deals which create tieflings in the first place. Genasi always hope to pass their elemental investment to thor children, but nothing is guaranteed.   Children of mixed heritage attract greater or lesser degrees of prejudice from different races, with dragonborn and High Elves among the most conservative.
