House of Spears Sheathed in Night
The House of Spears Sheathed in Night is an orc House {Orc} in the Howling Plains, devoted to the protection of the tomb of the Twelve Spears of Erraka, a group of heroes of the 2nd Legion who fought a full maniple of the 11th Legion and their undead auxiliaries to protect the Killer of Four. Erraka and the Twelve were all killed, but they held their position for five days, allowing reinforcements to flank the 11th and rescue the Killer of Four, preventing an attempt to resurrect the Dark Lords that the spear had already slain. With her dying breath, one of the Twelve - history does not record which - also slew the Digger of Graves, and the loss of almost fifty thousand of her loyalists and many of her most powerful necromancers put to rest the threat of any further resurrection attempts.
A tomb complex was cut into the desert outcrop where the Twelve made their stand, now known as Erraka's Seat, a dozen miles east of the settlement that grew into the city of Empty Tomb. There Erraka and the Twelve were laid to rest, to guard the body of the Digger eternally. Many of the survivors of the reinforcement group took part in the construction of the tomb and devoted themselves to its protection. It was these survivors who founded the House of Spears Sheathed in Night, one of the oldest houses in the Darklands.
In addition to the site and the bodies of the revered ancestors, the House protects the seven surviving Black Spears and Erraka's mighty blade, Baracul, as well as the deep buried body of the Digger.
