Bofyr-ket

Bofyr-ket (soldiers' city, or less flatteringly, city of toads, the words in Anurin are the same) is a sprawling tree city on the lower slopes of the Firestone Mountains, its buildings constructed of wood on platforms between the branches of the great, russet-barked sequias of the lesser jungle. It is a hive of never-ending activity, as artisans labour to adapt the city to its growing environment. In Bofyr-ket, the wealthy live close to the ground, while the poorer citizens occupy older housing as it is pushed ever more precariously towards the sky. A small community of those whose work requires constantly lit fires - bakers, smiths, glassblowers and the like - have homes and especially workshops on the forest floor, alongside stable, taverns and other facilities for travellers. The Consulate Hall, where the Consulate Martial sits, is built on the slopes of Mount Keki, at the same level as the high status platforms.   Unlike most cities in Suto, Bofyr-ket has a city wall, built from mountain stone and encircling the entire settlement. The city was founded to house the predominantly bofyrn military of Anur-tek somewhere outside the capital city. This was intended to avert the danger of a military coup, but ultimately gave a free hand to the ecclesiastical uprising of the pyranoi. Because the city expands upwards, there is no secondary settlement outside the wall.   Bofyr-ket is home to around 20,000 bofyrn and smaller numbers of anurin, aneft, gnomes, pashak, humans and petari. The city is the seat of the Consulate Martial and capital of Cirok-jat.
