The Forgotten Lands

There was once a great land of peoples long ago. Though technologically primitive, they had great magics, particularly those that come from nature. Unfortunately, due to events long since forgotten, these peoples destroyed their land, and seemingly themselves in the process.   Today, this region is fraught with danger. The land shifts beneath your feet. The water is toxic. Almost no life can survive there. And bizarrely, traces of ancient magic cause unusual, though non-permanent, effects. Legends speak of a beautiful oasis within, areas where magic doesn't work, and even areas where magic is granted to you.   None of the stories of The Forgotten Lands are very trustworthy since entering this domain is foolhardy and likely to cost you your life.
