Wake of the Aristeia

A curious artifact whose existence and function are questionable. Once a work of complete fiction, its name has been ascribed to various works, even back in the 2nd century.   The notion of Aristeia was discussed in Cormund and popularized in Haust. To most of the continent, an Aristeia is a relentless campaign, correlated with ruin and overwhelming violence. But Haust still treasures its original meaning: a demonstration of supreme excellence, sometimes over several years, whose heroism is felt across the world for several years more.   The "Wake of the Aristeia" refers to some kind of secondary effect: the ripples, the backlash, or other events inspired by this so-called Aristeia. It's appeared in several ancient works of fiction, but it's never been used in a way that explains what it is. Even if the Wake likely doesn't exist, there are dozens of theories regarding its purpose.   Developments - Act III
The real Wake was designed by a crew of minor gods as a gift to those struggling against Monarch. As a friendly joke, they designed the Wake as a parody of what Haust thinks it should be. The "demonstration of supreme excellence" refers to the softer side of the wielder's history: the times they improved the lives of others and shared a ray of limelight with unfortunate people. The Wake of the Aristeia gives those people the chance to return the favor, supporting and protecting the wielder from any distance.
