Simak finds a discarded holy symbol of Mother Night along the Golden Road to Elias, just before being transported to the Dibril Valley. This ancient deity is mentioned by the Vistani at the Tser Pool Encampment as a goddess of night and of secrets. The party also learns that both the werewolves and wereravens hold Mother Night sacred, while the people of Dibril Valley no longer worship her, believing she has turned her back on humankind.
