The Blue Water Inn is Vallaki’s main gathering place for locals, especially at night. The innkeepers, Urwin and Danika Martikov, consider the inn a sanctuary from the evils of this land. In the event of trouble, the windows and doors can all be barred shut from within.
Danika cares for all the rooms while Urwin cooks all the food and serves the guests. A bed for the night costs 1 ep. People looking for something to eat are fed hot beet soup and fresh bread at no additional charge. A cooked wolf steak costs 1 ep. Their two sons,, Brom and Bray, are frequently underfoot and running about the Inn.
The inn offers a pint of wine for 3 cp, or a pint of superior wine for 1 sp. The inn’s wine supply is almost depleted, and the latest delivery from the Wizard of Wines winery is overdue.
Developments
Urwin asks the party if they would be so kind as to find out what’s holding up the latest wine shipment, promising them free room and board if they return with the wine.
The party also encounters
Rudolph van Richten here, in the disguise of a traveling bard named Rictavio, and the hunters
Szoldar and Yevgeni leaving to search the lands around the town for missing orphans.
The party later confronts Urwin about his role in the missing gem from the
Wizard of Wines. Urwin assures the party there was no foul play. He was just a teenager, and sitting idle night after night was a challenge. He simply fell asleep on the job and his father has still not forgiven him even after decades.
The party also learns that someone has been sneaking into the Inn to steal food. They set traps but never successfully apprehend the culprit, though they suspect it may be the Baron's son,
Victor Vallakovich.
