Session 020: Ashes of Memory Report

The session began with the crew falling asleep near Rosabelle. One by one, they were pulled into her subconscious—a dream warped by fear, grief, and the lingering presence of Miss Lovelace. Mist blanketed a distorted version of Mystic River Park, with warped shadows and shifting architecture.

Phoebe identified the setting as a Shared Nightmare State and sensed a malevolent presence watching: Miss Lovelace. As the group oriented themselves, surveillance drones appeared overhead, scanning for signs of life. The team downed one, which triggered the arrival of a warped CorSec fireteam—echoes from Rosabelle’s past.

The soldiers, part cybernetic and part dream-construct, searched for "the Dragon’s lair." Rosabelle suddenly recognized the terrain and panicked. She remembered this place. Her mother had hidden her here once. As the enemy advanced, Rosabelle’s stress triggered a fiery transformation. Her true nature as a dragon hatchling surged forth, and she bathed the kill team in flame.

In response, a whisper rippled through the dream:
"So, that’s what you are."
Lovelace had seen enough.

The team rallied and defeated the CorSec forces. Rosabelle’s memory loop collapsed under the strain, and the dream dissolved. The crew awoke together, shaken but intact.

At Salty’s, they debriefed. The nightmare had been real—and Lovelace had penetrated deeper than any of them feared. The crew now suspects she’s not just a Rift, but a powerful witch who manipulates minds and feeds on children’s souls. With Rosabelle exposed, the stakes are higher than ever.
