Segen Quillwielder
Segen Dener Sumidatorinam (a.k.a. Quillwielder)
Odd fellow, that one. But he's got the memory of a phoenix and his art is phenomenal. And he's seen it, apparently.~Eviar on Segen Quillwielder

Personal history
Quillwielder was born and raised within the ring of Askar. His father was a craftsman, who assumed Segen would take over the family business once would've come of age. Segen, however, had no interest in his father's business. Inquisitive in nature (partially due to the highly historical environment he grew up in, and partially believed to have come from his mothers' side, a family of warriors and explorers), Segen would often find himself away from the city, exploring the far corners of the ring. Inevitably, he stumbled upon the many tunnels and ruins of the Aerin, and as he grew older, he grew bolder, and in his teenage years he went deeper and deeper into the caves that none other were interested in, or too fearful to explore.
When he reached the age of 16, his parents hired the painter Yak Brushstroke to create a family portrait. Yak introduced Segen to the brush. For a few years, Segen painted many things in his environment, but after about a year, settled on sketching with a quill, rather than with a brush. He combined his exploration of the tunnels under Askar with his art. He tried sketching the ruins, the caves, the falls and the abysses. Many times, however, he felt unsafe in the bellows of the world, and after several run-ins with unsavoury creatures in the tunnels he decided not to linger anywhere, and he went in and out silently and swiftly. He developed the skill to remember what he had seen, and sketch the sights in the safety of his home. At the age of 21, he was given the name Quillwielder for his unique fixation.
Over time, Segen's isolation from other people his age lead to him being seen as odd and remarkably enigmatic. It kept most folks at a distance, but those in need of his talents could always find him. During the day he would assist his father in the workshop, but in the weekends and at night he would assist many with reconnaisance missions. Segen could quickly enter, see, leave, and sketch the environment he had been in. He did jobs for both the city guard and the criminal underworld. He scouted pantries for hungry homeless people, treasuries for thieves, hideouts of criminal syndicates for the authorities and the women's bathouse for debauchees. He'd give them all sketches containing the finest details that his clients could be interested him.
When Segen's father passed away when he was 31, his widowed mother urged Segen to take on his father's work. Segen refused, sold the workshop, and purchased his own home. in the two decades after, he honed his craft, and his skills became wanted throughout the region. He completed jobs far beyond the walls of Askar, and from the mouth of the Turundi to the Gundushad mountains he'd travel for particularly interesting contracts. He preferred his home in Askar, however, and as he grew older he'd leave less often. What also played a part was his bounty; despite having helped combat crime many times, he was morally ambivalent, and he was considered to do more harm than good. His face was well-known as that of a criminal, and he went into hiding. It became harder for him to go outside, let alone do his work. His long career provided him with a small fortune, however, and he had a few loyal people who admired his work that helped him in his daily needs. He grew increasingly paranoid, fearing for his life as a runaway. Wherever possible, however, he would still try to complete some contracts he'd been given; he loved his work, and he felt that he was genuinely helping people. It was in this point that Eviar suggested to search for him, and request his assistance with understanding the nature of an important meeting between the Derendoran king and a mysterious figure.
Education
Segen was taught in general skills of bookkeeping, reading and writing by his father, as well as woodworking, his father's craft. His greatest skills he taught himself, however; with a quill he was a master artist and he could slip in and out locations unseen.
Employment
Segen Quillwielder named himself a "proximity scout", because he found himself often within a stone's throw of a target. He would employ manifold methods to infiltrate into area's restricted to him and his clients, most of these methods being a secret only known to himself. Once there, he would carefully observe the surroundings, and gather any additional intel his client was interested in. After slipping out, his clients almost always required him to draw the layout of the location, the faces of the people present, the equipment they had to their disposal, entrances, exits and many other details. While Segen usually had little knowledge or interest in the things he scouted, his phenomenal memory allowed him to record them in detail regardless.
Segen started his career at or around the age of 17, with small jobs that were little more than monkey tricks. As time progressed, his deftness increased and by the time his father passed away, he was a well-respected spy-for-hire. around the age of 50, his bounty caused his career to slow down, and at the age of 55 he could handle no more than a single contract a month.
Mental Trauma
The constant need for vigilance, the long-term lack of a support he really trusted and the danger of those who would betray his whereabouts turned Segen sour. It pulled him closer to those who he deemed trustworthy later in life, clinging to outside support, which he had never considered something he'd need. He grew suspicious of anyone, and it shows in his mannerisms and way of talking. Seldom would he show his face, and never would he allow anyone to enter the place where he lived.
Intellectual Characteristics
While Segen is not particularly gifted in the written works, his photographic memory is a unique skill that has been vital in exercising his job. He is shrewd, and is always able to make a correct assessment of a location, and if and how he can infiltrate.
Wealth & Financial state
Segen owns a large house, where by the time the silverbird came to Askar he no longer lived. In a secret stash in the city sewers (which was also his home) he had stored a small fortune, which he used to maintain a small network of people who would help him to keep out of the hands of the authorities and find him new contracts.
