Shadow Elves
Formally known as Guenhyvar Faen, they are the Elves who were banished by the Faelandians and over time have been corrupted by the toxic air of the wastes. Along with the other waste dwellers they go by the collective name of The Grym.

Basic Information
Dietary Needs and Habits
Similar to gnomes their diet is primarily mushrooms and other plants but occasionally will eat goat when available. However instead of curing food they opt to make use of the spices they can grow in the wastes. However due to their resistance to poisons it means they find even the strongest spices bland and distant to them, but they still enjoy eating.
Behaviour
Shadar-kai are mournful and joyless. They are neither benevolent or malevolent, though they are not inclined to follow rules.
Despite their hatred of other races especially other elves, Shadow elves are savagely loyal to all Grym, like traumatised children clinging to their brethren, but instead of the tenderness that other races might show, they have developed masochistic relationships with each other by willingly offering to tattoo, pierce or scarification to each other.

Social Structure
The shadow elves like other Grym have never been numerous. Similar to the shadow gnomes there homes are simple spaces cut into the faces of the mountain range. However due to the innate pride from their Elven origin they do tend to split their space into multiple small rooms in order to achieve some modesty and privacy.
Unlike the gnomes the shadow elves have no more than 2 children per household with some parents actively choosing not to have children at all.
While not truly remembering first hand how they ended up in the wastes stories and myths talk of being banished here as punishment for something by the elves. Due to this a culture of masocism has developed amongst them with tattooing, scarification and piercing has become popular.
Facial characteristics
Very angular almost gaunt looking appearance. Ears are usually a lot longer than other elven races due to relying on hearing for survival.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Shadow elves are a bit hardier than other elves, and possess a resistance to poisons. Similar to other Grym beings they have innate magical abilities to survive in the toxic space of the wastes such as teleportation. Like other elves, shadow elves possess darkvision.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
Giving up surnames of their ancestors they now adopt like many of the Grym names of things they miss like River, ocean, skye, Petal and Leaf. Some do adopt more emotion based names like Sorrow, Mysery, Joy and Harmony

Mature around 50 and can live up to about 250 years

Average Physique
Very lean and athletic builds. Built more for endurance and survival than for strength.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Hues of lilac, blueish grey and darker purple and grey shades are usually that of those who are outside in the sun more. Hair is usually black but there are a few with light grey hair. Usually fairly long messy and tatted hair as they are not vain beings so keep their hair braided and spend minimal time maintaining it.
