Basic Information

Behaviour

Whether or not the dwarven claim that they were carved from the world's stone is true, dwarves share many qualities considered similar to the stone they live with. Strong, hardy, and dependable, dwarves are polite, particularly to elders, and possess a wisdom beyond that of many other races. Dwarves value their traditions, regardless of the subrace they came from, and look for inspiration from ancestral heroes. Dwarves are also known for their stubborn nature and cynicism but often offset by their bravery and tenacity.
Dwarven friendship is hard to earn, but is strong once won. Naturally dour and suspicious, the stout folk are slow to trust others, specifically those outside their family, suspecting the worst of an individual until the outsider has proven their good will. Once this trust was gained, dwarves hold their friends to it and view betrayals, even minor ones, with a vicious propensity for vengeance.
Dwarves are careful and deliberate, with a more serious disposition than other races, who they sometimes viewed as flighty or reckless. A dwarf does all things with care and a stubborn resolve, with brash or cowardly behavior unusual for them. However, dwarves do succumb easily to wrath or greed, which is their most common vice.
Forest Dwarves specifically are known for their eccentric sense of humor, inquisitiveness, and engineering prowess. Having had few overt influences on the world's history but many small and unseen ones, Forest dwarfs are often overlooked by the powers that be, despite their craftiness and affinity for illusion magic.
While halflings are referred to being small humans, Forest dwarves are seen as small Dwarves and why they choose to call theirselves Vudd Dwed rather than gnomes.

Forest Dwarfs produce colored glass items. Their glass creations are usually a was green shade like impure jade and translucent. This hue is a result of the gnome crafters melting and reshaping glass. Forest dwarf green glass cups are a commodity found throughout the region.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Forest dwarves, in general, are a reclusive people who'd rather stay out of others' affairs. Though some races interpreted this as cowardice, it's more the case that they simply have nothing at stake in the conflicts between most other races and after centuries of being ignored or stomped on, are not particularly eager to fight someone else's fight. In fact, generally speaking, Forest Gnomes are a very courageous and good-hearted race, who frequently use their neutrality as a way to negotiate disputes.
