Centaur
Created by the elves inspired by the grace, power and beauty of the horses they had created they gave all the same traits to Centaurs.
These woodland beings are sociable creatures, whether living in the wilds in small tribes or in the city as part of one large tribe. Wild tribes survive through hunting, foraging, fishing, agriculture and trade. They tend to shun humans due to their crass and agressive pasts, but happily live and work alongside Elves and other Fey. However they are hospitable and would always ask politely for someone to leave their space before resorting to more abrupt and agressive options to remove those who are unwelcomed.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Centaurs have the upper torso, arms and head of a human, and the lower body of a horse.
Ecology and Habitats
As they do travel in tribes and are fairly large creatures they much prefer open plain areas and even desert areas they can easily see each other and any threats to their tribe.
In they live in maisonette style homes where they occupy larger homes on the ground floor while the occupy flats above these. The two creatures live very much in harmony with each other helping each other out in many ways.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Like many of the people of they do tend to have a very vegan style diet with many grains, fruits and nuts. However, especially within the wild tribes, they wil happily have a wide omnivore diet and have been known to eat raw meat or fish fresh off a kill.
Behaviour
Strong and proud, most centaurs live in harmony with nature either in the wilds or in the city. They keep things in balance, planting a tree for every one they chop down and taking only what the environment can easily give. They are the forefront of the recycling and composting movements within
Due to their size they do tend to consume a lot of food which is why they tend to vary their diet regularly to ensure not to negatively effect the eco system and due to this high hunger level they often also consume a lot of ale and spirits meaning many centaurs have a bad habit of overindulging into drunkenness. Among most people, centaurs make excellent companions and even offer rides to trusted allies but never assume or ask they need to make the offer as they are very proud creatures.
Additional Information
Domestication
Wild tribe Centaurs are seen to need some kind of domestication to be allowed into city spaces by races like humans. However they do not need any dommestication as long as they are given space. Bad stories have been passed down of wild centaurs getting aggressive and destructive in city spaces. The truth behind this is they were expected to just use human spaces even though they are twice the size and therefore they paniced feeling trapped in tight spaces.
Whereas when the elven city decided to make a home option for them they made specially designed homes to have plenty of space and made sure to consult centaurs with the design. They then moved in and went from wild tribes to domesticated friendly citizens right away with no incidents.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
In the past humans tried to use Centaurs to pull carts and carry goods like pack mules. This was abruptly stopped by the eleves when they found out and was part of the protection order put in place to keep all fey creatures safe and not to be exploited in any form.
Geographic Origin and Distribution
There are three main places Centaurs are found. The ones in the city of , the wild tribes of the plains along the lower coast of the feylands and the wild tribes of the desert lands to the east.
Civilization and Culture
Naming Traditions
First names vary depenmding on generation or society they are a part of.
Second names are always the name of the tribe they are part of. If from the main city this is the name of the tribe their birth father is a part of. They do not change this with marriage or moving to a new place, however at any time a ccentaur can change to a different tribe and it is seen almost like adoption.
Relationship Ideals
Centaurs mate for life, and the males clearly have the dominant role in their society, however in their relationship and home life the female tends to have the dominant role. This is shown through the courtship of women requiring interested male parties must fight for the affection of the female but it is the female who decides who wins and this is not always the strongest they may choose the one who falls first and her decision is never questioned. If a male tries to question the decision or shows poor sportsmanship he will be shunned from the tribe.
Queerness does exist within their society and in these cases the Centaur with the most social respect/power is seen in the same space as a female would be. There is no homophobia or anything similar as inclusivity is very inportant to the balance of nature.

They have a similar culture to African and Arabian cultures in our world. With hair styles like dreadlocks, outfits similar to Thobe or headdresses like keffiyeh.
