Bovinae

Bovinae resemble humans, but with bovine type features like wide flat noses and large droopy ears. Their thick, tough skin can come in a variety of pastel shade from fleshy pink to a greyish blue and their hair, usually thick and heavily curled, is hues of red and maroon but sometimes a deep magenta and always worn long. A Bovinae’s voice is deep and smooth, and talk at a pace of someone who has smoked a lot of leaf.

Bovinae pregnancies were typically about two years long. This is much longer than most races. Bovinae reach adulthood at about 30 years, and could live as many as 500 years.

Similar to the Nature elves they tend to prefer being amongst trees and nature so even when living in the city they cover their homes inside and out with as much nature as they can opting for growing large trees around their homes.

Similar to elves they do opt for a primarily vegan diet but they do occassionally enjoy a fish they have caught or small animals who have died of natural causes however they will not actively hunt or harm any animal for the mere need to eat. They do tend to consume twice as much as a standard human.

Bovinae enjoy quiet time in the woods, in harmony with nature. The forests are sacred to them and symbolise the heart of the earth and the adaptability of life. They see themselves as the forests' caretakers.   Bovinae consider greed to be one of the worst vices. They believe that one should only ever take what one needs and no more. Combined with their love of nature they believe strongly in recycling and reusing. They saw no value in material wealth such as gems and gold.   Bovinae believe that charity is a virtue but also believe that it was harmful for the recipient to know the identity of the provider. They were extremely honest and could not lie without feeling physical discomfort, even if the lie was by omission.   Due to their care for nature they work alongside the Centaur with the recycling and compositing efforts in but also work diligentaly with the folks of the woodlands around the region to protect all forms of nature from any bad influence from anywhere.

Mostly found in small communities within the fealands mostly the woodland areas. Some are found living in the city and many form part of the monk city guard

Due to their timid and slow approach to life they can come across as dumb. However there are several extremely powerful and wise wizards from history that were Bovinae. However like all races there are also plenty of dumb and clumsy Bovinae as well. One aspect that does contribute to the average intelligence of this race is the fact they do frown upon the use of books as it requires cutting down trees. Therefore many opt not to learn from books and are unable to write, therefore in society they are seen as uneducated and therefore unintelligent.

Bovinae are resistant to magic. They can sense the presence of magical auras innately. They also have the power to change their physical appearance, mostly used not to deceive but for self preservation to hide in society when needed. In a similar stance they can make themselves turn invisible.   Due to their love of nature and wild animals they do have an innate skill to communicate with both plants and animals of their forest homes.

Bovinae have lost the knowledge of where these family names come from but they hold them dear:   Prakt, Strev, Rang, Glang, Byrd, Stomm, Blod, Ettin, Kong, Tusen, Trut, Zund, Stommpaart.   For first names they tend to use names of nature eg Maple, Oak and River

Bovinae follow a set code very similar to a palidan.   Bravery, Effort, and Honor over birth. The tribe's honor over yours. The blood of the runt is the blood of a king. Give a thousand for nothing. Truth is the honor of the tribe.
