Ring of Summer

The Ring of Summer is an artifact, created by Nenyve, the Acorn Queen. She offers it to one who might become her Champion on Aetregyr.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

This ring is crafted from finely woven rose-gold, and has a brilliant emerald etched with the symbol of the Acorn Queen set in the middle of the ring. While worn, weapon attacks that you make count as both silver and magic for the purpose of overcoming resistances and immunities.   While wearing the Ring of Summer, all successful attacks deal an additional 1d6 bludgeoning damage. When you roll a 20 on an attack roll against a creature of the animal type while wearing this ring, the animal must succeed on a DC 17 Fortitude saving throw or die.   While wearing the ring, you can make a ranged attack against a target. On a hit, the creature takes 3d8 radiant damage, and the target and all hostile creatures within 30 feet of it must succeed on a DC 17 Fortitude saving throw or become blinded until the end of your next turn. The ring may be used in this manner once per day.   Legendary Deed   When you believe you have performed a deed worthy of immortalization in bardic song, you may focus upon your artifact and tell your tale to the Acorn Queen within your dreams during a long rest. Should your great deed be accepted, you gain +10 on Profession (Herbalist) and Craft (Carpentry) checks. Additionally, the radiant gift of Nenyve may be used to tend to your equipment. You can cast the mending cantrip, at will, on any wooden or organic object. If your deed is not accepted, you take a -10 penalty on all Profession (Herbalist) and Craft (Carpentry) checks. Remove curse, greater restoration, or wish remove this penalty.   Regardless of the success or failure of your petition, you may not petition your liege again for a period of one month and one day. A successful petition activates the legendary deeds feature for every item you are wear that possesses it. Bearers of these items are expected to perform greater and greater deeds as they ascend the ranks. Long-standing servants are held to higher standards of great deeds than recent recruits.   Royal Will   Once every one month and one day, during a long rest, you may opt to become receptive to the will of your liege. The ring casts the geas/quest spell upon you. Spell Resistance does not apply against this effect, and it succeeds even if you are otherwise immune to the charmed condition.   When activated, you may not receive payment for anything you make or mend for the next fifteen days. Receiving a gift thanking you for what you have made or mended does not trigger this prohibition. The difference between payment and a gift is at the discretion of the giver.   If you succeed, you gain the ability to speak with insects and to cast phantom steed, which summons a giant dragonfly. Unlike other steeds summoned by this spell, your mount possesses a land speed of 10 and fly speed of 60 feet, and it does not gain extra abilities based on level. Once you have used this ability, you may not do so again until the following dawn. If you fail the geas, you lose your ability to use your animal language for a month and one day. Remove curse, greater restoration, or wish remove this penalty. Completing the objective of the geas of the item activates all items with this feature for a period of one month and one day. You cannot accept another Royal Will while under the effects of a completed or failed one.
