The Legacy of the Rift
The dust finally settles after the century-long war against the aberrations that poured through the tear in reality within the skies of Aetheus, and halting the progress of the world-eating light-consuming entity known as Hadar, the Dark Star. The many Dragonaughts that once protected and ruled the lands from the sky in mobile flying citadels have all been ruined, destroyed or disappeared through the war... leaving the great dragons and Dragonborn missing and in hiding, and the secrets to their powerful elemental essence of Dragonshards are now up for the taking. The once minor powers of the world are now marshalling to fill the void left by the once-mighty dragon masters, and are plunged into a growing cold war - the Arkspire Elves seek to reclaim their once glorious empire, reunite the lost spires of elves and reconquer the lost Alf-Lands from the petty kingdoms of man, mage and monsters; the Alloyar Shaperate of the Dwarves wish to rediscover the lost powers of their great Crucibles and reconnect the Railroads connecting their elemental strongholds; the goblinoid free-city states of the Bronzimm Concord seek to rebuild and destroy the remnants of their ancient slavers within the old lands of Banaethlin, ending the rule and bloodline of the Supreme Emperor, conquering the seas with their renewed naval might...
Not only this, the western continent is now free and ripe for the taking, an unknown and mythical land that has been the conquered lands of the Dragons since before the Great Divergence... many seek to claim the natural resources, treasures and lost artefacts hidden within the jungle lands, and recover the hidden hoards of the myth that belonged to the great Draconic Lords, and unlock the secret of the Dragonshards as the ultimate magical essence and power to reclaim and build their own Dragonaught citadels. Returning to the Age of Arcanum, and become the most powerful race in all of Aethereus.
But the Rift has left many scars, and many are distrustful of the other... no one truly knows the reason why the Rift was opened, and no one knows who is truly to blame for the deaths of thousands and the destruction of the world during the lost century. Allies and enemies now look at one another with suspicion and grow fearful. The cold wars now grow, as they rush to Zigaura - conflict is on the horizon, and the people are still filled with traumas of the nightmarish creatures that plagued them from the skies, the earth and the sea. Some believe that despite the Rift having been sealed, there are those that seek to unleash it once again... Cults have grown from the red glare of the star that appeared through the Rift... aberrations still lurk within the dark corners of the world and seek to redeem their power and destroy the civilised peoples of the world.
