Calendar of Aetheus

The races of Aetheus choose to mark their days by the seasons, using the cycle of nature and the growth of flora and fauna of the land to explain the passage of time. This has become the communal way to mark the days, no matter the race or origin of those that call Aetheus home. It is a simple system, one developed as a way to bring the races together.
HISTORY OF THE CALENDAR
The calendar itself began as a human invention, as farmers followed a similar system already. Their system marked the days and months by the growing seasons and the changes of the days. While a system was easily utilized by many of the humans, its simplicity and its fir more for the Humans often left the other races with much to be desired from a system that was to be universal.   The natural solar cycle of the planet of Aetheus is 424 1/4 days long, with a leap year (otherwise known as a ) every four years as it revolves around the star 'Solarhune', colloquially known as Solun. Each week is measured in 8 day long cycles, a fortnight is 16 days long, lasting as long as the second moons lunar cycle (Viyarr). There are 53 weeks in the year. Each month is measured by the lunar cycle of the first moon, ShelĂșnae, lasting on average 31 1/2 to 33 1/2 days. There are 13 months in the year, but they do not have a symmetrical sequence. There are 6 months with 33 days in the year, the shortest month is Bravedawn (which gains an additional day on the leap year), 2 months in the year have the longest days of the year with 34 days, and 4 months have 32 days in the year.
