Athlass, the Serpents Lake-City.

Athlass

The central hub of the Bronzimm Concord within its subcontinental territories, a city built in the centre of a great lake, connected by several tributary rivers that give access to the different regions of Dredjericho, and the major trade road of the Legion Roads. Athlass is ruled by the Grand Zimmark, and protected by the Aevolhands (Ironfists), in the broken lakeside ruin of Harkartagen (once the central Hobgoblin outpost) reborn into a sub-jungle region home to beasts and to a great bazaar of traders, beast-tamers, farmers and craftsmen - said to have the purest bronze in the world, and one of the most peaceful trading regions in the world. Home to the great temple in devotion to the Serpents Sublime, the Imperial Coatl - greater spirits, blessed and orchestrators of order and law. Gifting the Goblins long ago with order out of their rebellious anarchy many centuries ago, and gifted them with the potential to begin their own civilisation - and rebuild over the ruined temples and structures that once belonged to the ancient Ophidian empire, burying the hatchet of their slave masters, the Hobgoblins of Old Banaethlin. Breaking the chains of the old masters. Their voice heard by the great vizier and shaman, the Xoatl, the caretaker of their temples, and the one to which brings their blessings upon the land.   Athlass was built originally by the Aethallar, and was devastated by the Yuan-Ti, then the conquerors from the south-west, the Banaethlin Empire; afterward, it had become the home of the Serpents Sublime, the two Imperial Coatl. From this place, the Coatl partners aided the Goblins in their plight and slavery to regain their freedoms from their goblin cousins, the Banaethlin Hobgoblins, and helped incite the Three Great Revolutions. The voice of freedom was sprouted by the first follower of the Coatl, the Xoatl, the chosen one - and through his voice rose the powers of the goblinoid slaves; and then when the goblin clans united between the three greater cities of Carpe Maris, Carpe Roke and Carpe Tortollan, there came the Zimmarks & their leader, the High Zimmark. From there, they broke down and destroyed the symbols of oppression and the idols of the Dark Gods, Bane & Zehir. Destroying these idols and eliminating the dark spirits residing within, they repurposed the dark temples and their stone to form their homes - destroying those they found in the Venom War in the 3rd century and eliminating the poisons from their land, and discovering great copper and tin and silver mines. From this, the Zimmarks built their fortunes and the goblins plied their trades they earned in their enslavement for the betterment of their kin. The laws established by the Concord union of these cities were blessed by the Sublime Serpents and made so by the Xoatl in the Hall of the Thunderbeasts. From Athlass, the Sublime Serpents spread their message and fostered the laws set under the Concord - promoting democracy, freedom of speech, fair trials and good trade, measuring the qualities of a person based on their merits, word and actions. Creating four great bridges for the cardinal directions across the lake to allow all to enter and to protect them from dangers, but also to access the waters to fish and farm from on its shorelines, connecting to the other rivers with tributary ports and water bridges - with blessed regions and harvests coming their way.
