PLANETS OF AETHERIA PRIME
PLANETS OF AETHERIA PRIME
Aetheria Prime System: The planet of Aetheria is beautiful and welcoming planet. It was the fourth world from their star, and third of four habitable worlds in their system. There were two smaller inner worlds and a Aetheria's almost twin, a mostly water-covered world called Oceania. The inner worlds are Havila and Arborea. The Blue Guardians, three large gas giants, loom at the edge of the system, all look much like Neptune, and an asteroid belt surrounds the whole system in a shell.
Havila - Havila is one-third the size of Aetheria and rotates on a 34 degree tilt, counter to its orbital direction, meaning the sun rose in the northwest and set in the southeast, giving it a 21.5 hour day and a 178 day year. During the summer the sun never set and during the winter the sun shone for less than an hour. This caused massive fluctuations in the surface temperature which resulted in vicious winds, and massive dust - sand storms. According to Lady Daisy's surveys, the small world had not always been this way, it was if some great force had rolled it onto its side, changing its climate and forever dooming its surface.
The Long Land was strange mid-ocean ridge of upthrust and volcanic mountains that broke the surface as the seas evaporated. There was only one ocean left on Havila, a super-salinated body of water the size of the Atlantic ocean of Terrearth, with the mineral content of the Dead Sea. Sand and sediments had filled in between the mountain tops creating a sand bar tens of thousands Stones (meters) long running from the southwest to the northeast, like a peculiar vertical mark on the surface of the small world. It was the only mountains range on the entire planet. Rich in mineral resources made a colony necessary but fewer than 200 Aetherians (mostly miners) live on the desert world.
From Aetheria, Havila looks like a diamond set near the waist of their star to be seen only at dawn and dusk.
Arborea- If Havila is a diamond, then Arborea is an emerald.
Arborea was the third world from their star and second habitable planet, having a mass slightly more than one-third of Aetheria's. Its name came from the Terrearth root 'arbor' for tree, because the entire surface was covered in dense forest. The warm, humid climate was perfect for trees of every kind. The Orchards planted by the first colonist almost 200 years after the resettlement of Aetheria matured in less than a decade. It seemed like the only thing that wouldn't grow on Arborea was cactus.
But Arborea presented a unique challenge because, except for small, transient pools left behind by daily afternoon showers and a few fresh water springs, the majority of its water was hidden deep underground, in a single body simply called The River. Arborea was surprisingly lush biome for only having a small amount of surface water. It reminds all of the rain forest of Terrearth. Arborea's year lasted 255 of its days, which were only 21 Aetherian hours long. There was also the Pearls, as Arborea's moons were called. The two tiny bodies were once part of the same body that was split almost perfectly in half with only a 5% difference in their masses. The two pieces circled in their parallel orbits and gave the idea that they were half-pearls floating during the 25 days of their orbit. There were 8 colony towns on Arborea all with access to The River.
Aetheria is about 15% larger than the world known as Terrearth (Earth), with slightly higher gravity but about the same land to water ratio and similar biomes. Aetheria has 4 continents broken up by large interior lakes and rivers running thousands of blocks. There are several chains of islands and three demi-continents also. The mountains are not has rugged as they once were because the entire surface seems to have been smoothed or eroded in some ancient cataclysm. There are large areas in the far north that have been reduced bare rock and lava fields. It has a 400 day year and one satellite. The Crown City of Aximuth is on a large island in the center of an enormous circular lake. Forest and mountains on the south side, hills and plains on the north. Four large rivers flowed into the lake from the eastern directions then two rivers run parallel westward from the lake down to the ocean. The majority of Aetherians live in or around the Crown City, which was the first settlement when the system was resettled. No one knows what destroyed their world but it was the reason their ancestors fled and took refuge on Terrearth.
Oceania - If Havila was a diamond and Arborea was an emerald, then Oceania is a sapphire. 80% of the surface was covered in water. Unbroken expanses of water stretched from Polar Ice cap to polar ice cap. The largest land mass was roughly the size of Australia. Huge chains of Islands thrust up from shallow seas. Fishing is the main industry of Oceania. Fleets move from one fishing and crabbing ground to another, avoid the massive cyclonic storms that plague the winter months, but the expansive oceans gives it a milder climate than Aetheria. Ice Bowls are the greatest threat; these pocket of super-cooled water droplets float like a bowl on the ocean surface and can coat the decks of a ship with several inches of ice per minute.
The Blue Giants There are three gas giants in the Aetheria Prime system, each have dozens of small moonlets. Closely resembling Neptune in color and composition, the Blue Giants are often seen through out the night.
The Halo of Hope Nebulae A ring nebulae that circles a central point between itself and Aetheria Prime, showing that it was once a binary star system. In the center of the Halo is a strange void, there is no trace of the star of Xelusia or the planetary system that was once there. The Oracle Lady Daisy discovered this and that the measurements were almost exactly the size of the Dark Dust Nebulae pocket dimension.
