The Fallen Rise
This page covers the ancient myth, the Fallen Rise, which was witnessed during 124 NE.
Summary
The Fallen Rise:
It is said that the Caelorian Queen's will arise from their dormant state to fight alongside the Seed of the Starlight Veil upon the Forsaken's return. All the Queen's of the Aalarelai Bloodline will rise from the saer cavities of the Starlight Veil to protect the Seed through their mystical abilities, but will also enforce life transference to go ahead if necessary. This is known as 'Tilundiun,' and enforces the resurrection of the Caelorian Queens.
Historical Basis
During 124NE, the Seed of the Starlight Veil, G'aravei Aalarelai summoned the Caelorian Queen's to defend her against the Ashen while she transferred her entire life force to the tree to ensure it lived on. It was through the sacrifice of the Royal Bloodline that this happened.
The elves and royal bloodline of the kingdom witnessed her transfer her entire life force to the Starlight Veil, which caused the myth to ignite. Through G'aravei's sacrifice, she gave life to the Starlight Veil and it flourished once again, with light returning to the kingdom. The leaves stopped falling, which meant high elves no longer fell into the darkness of Vivaleth's reach. This became a pivotal point in history because G'aravei was the first Seed to sacrifice her life for a noble and dutiful cause.
The Caelorian Queens Revealing: Once the Starlight Veil had flourished from the sacrifice of the seed, pure Saer Elven figures emerged from the streams of the tree, wielding silver spears made from their hands. They stood in front of the tree and allowed none near it while it consumed G'aravei's life force completely.
Spread
This myth is known by all the kingdoms and their people, showing mighty respect for the Seed of the Starlight Veil. Without G'aravei, the Starlight Veil would have died and its survival was because of her.
Variations & Mutation
This myth has not been altered throughout time. It is noted in a collection of old papers located within Incrementum. The words of these papers were written by her brother, Varcanai Aalarelai.
Cultural Reception
The story of G'aravei's Sacrifice is widely respected, especially as it's one told with such emotion and duty. Elves from other kingdom's come to pay their respects to the Starlight Veil during special occasions when they are allowed into the Kingdom. While she is of caelorian blood, the animosities of other kingdoms are placed to the side, for she was the sole reason the kingdom lived on while her father was out at war.
In Literature
There is a collection of papers written by Varcanai Aalarelai as an elfling that details what G'aravei did and how the Starlight Veil protected her while she offered her life to the tree.
In Art
To commemorate G'aravei's sacrifice, the best painters within the kingdom came together to create a masterpiece, detailing exactly what she looked like during the time, how her hair changed, and the Caelorian Queens that stood beside the Starlight Veil. It accurately captured the colour returning to the sacred tree and G'aravei Aalarelai turning to dust before its very presence.
Tilundiun Meaning:
'Tilundiun' means 'The Sacrifice of the Seed.'
Only the firstborn daughter of the reigning sovereign must take up this role out of principle and duty. Since 124 NE, each daughter of the reigning sovereign has taken up this role.
The Sacrifice of the Seed:
The Caelorian Queens Pt. I:
During the War of Faiths, the Starlight Veils roots served as a fighting companion for all High Elves fighting on the frontline. Its roots would delve through the ground and strike the hearts of those who dared oppose its people. Through its mystical capabilities, it was able to materialise warriors from its saer stream. Faceless elfa warriors with elven body figures and heightened power. These warriors were known as the Caelorian Queens. They would do everything within their power to protect the Seed of Aethel Caeloria; the firstborn daughter of Aalarelai, as they knew her life would be detrimental to the tree’s longevity.
- The 1st daughter of every royal bloodline must transfer their lifeforce to the tree to ensure its longevity if placed in immediate fatal danger.
- Through transferring the daughter's lifeforce, she will become a part of the tree and flourish again, providing life for the kingdom of Aethel Caeloria and overseeing its endurance once more.
- The Starlight Veil reminds the royal family of its duty by infusing autumn blazed hues into the tips of their firstborn daughter’s hair. It is both a blessing and a curse.
- The Starlight Veil is a sacred part of Aethel Caelorian culture as it preserves all elf life and provides light during the darkest of days.
