Bright Futures, Inc.
Somebody's got to do it
In Good Company
If you stay in Exignis for any length of time, you're bound to encounter a member of an unusual race, wearing a yellow vest and silver earring. Look close enough at the silver earring, and you'll see the logo of Bright Futures, Inc. (BFI). BFI is run by a group of Dwarves. They pick up contracts that require simple manual labor, and hire those who would otherwise be outcasts from society. The workers are paid in cheap housing, food, and a bit of money. Everybody wins:- workers aren't harrassed as much and get to participate in society,
- owners make a lot of money for practically nothing,
- clients get their work done with surprising consistency (considering the workforce's unusual qualities)
- society as a whole builds a better relationship with more harmony among races, and
- people don't have to worry as much about ogres attacking logging camps, goblins stealing livestock, gnoll bandits raiding caravans. and so on...
/*Bright Futures incorporated is an organization that is widespread throughout exignis. BFI is a dwarven company with an interesting business model. They hire and in many cases feed and provide permanent housing for) races that are usually considered feral and monsterous to do simple tasks and labor. They either produces goods themselves in their block-sided warehouses or contract out workers for manual labor and services. A worker of BFI is easy to spot, and so there are no need to fear the monsters when they are wearing their signature garb. Just look for the bright yellow vest and the silver-engraved earring with BFI's logo. BFI plays an interesting and unique roll. While many places may be plagued by monsterous races in the past (ogres atacking logging camps, goblins stealing livestock, gnoll bandits raiding caravans etc etc) BFI allows a harmony to form which monsterous races can live side by side with the normal races. BFI's goal is to integrates the more dangerous and monsterous races into society by giving them purpose beyond looting and pillaging. Instead of going extinct or harrassing the ever growing and evolving population, they can instead benefit society. By deloping jobs suitable to each race of creature, the lesser races are able to successfully live and thrive in thefaster paced urban environment that would be too predujused to let them live ferally. Now instead of pillaging livestock, a goblin can earn a living doing crafting. An ogre no longer needs to harrass travelers for meat or worry about being hunted down in the night by predigust adventurers (it's strength and simple mind are perfect as a draft animal. Though the conditions and respect may not be what a dwarf or a human may get, this lifestyle is the only reasonable choice available. For many of the races once feared by man, it is either adapt and domesticate, or resist and be hunted or deprived. */
